Boogie Fland just entered the portal. We recruited him pretty heavily, I would think he'd be someone to watch out for.
That would be great. My worry is that all the bigger names entering the portal this late are doing so because it will likely be their last chance to cash in before the house settlement is approved. That will supposedly take away the current model of pay-for-play, so some of these guys may be looking for huge NIL deals one last time. I don't remember this many bigger names entering so late during last season's window.
That's surprising and not surprising. We were in on him during his original recruitment but I have a feeling his price tag is going to be large.
Can't imagine a scenario where Fland doesn't get drafted in the money round. But who knows, right?
I agree,
@CrimsonTitles, that these guys, i.e. bigger names, are just using the portal as an insurance policy. I think you are spot on, but I can't say I blame them.
Having said that, I agree with you,
@BamaHoopsBoi, that
if he returns to college game, for whatever reason, he is one to keep an eye on.
To your point,
@TiderJack, I agree about the price tag being high. He was considered to be one of the top point guards coming out of high school last year, if I recall correctly.
I think we showed with Dybantsa that we can hang with everyone else on the price. We don't seem to have any really high dollar guys on board at this point, so we might have the bank for Fland.
Don't know how close we were to getting him last year, but I can't imagine us not pursuing him just as hard this time around, if the opportunity presents itself.
Again, I think he's NBA bound, but it might get interesting.
