Trump Policies, part IX

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Sounds like a price control —one of the pillars of … checking… socialism.

But since it is coming from the Dear Leader, then we should come up with a different word, since socialism is what those liberal democrats are doing.

This is one of the many aspects of Trumpism that aligns with policies that are more traditionally Dem. Tribalism is retarded.

I am not a fan of this idea but I don't know enough about the China/Strategic Minerals thing to really form an opinion. China is undoubtedly ruthless and they appear to be using their dominance in the mining of these metals to further consolidate their economic power over the rest of the world. The answer is to find other sources but that doesn't materialize overnight.

Good news for Trump lovers - we are considering to send additional 20 billion to Argentina

"Bessent said Wednesday that the U.S. is looking into another $20 billion lifeline for Argentina, funded by private banks and sovereign wealth funds. "

Since Bessent is talking about it, it means that this new lifeline will be secured by US Treasury

thankfully, the invisible fist of the free market can step in and take care of things

I noted this week that Lutnik created a storm in Canada saying that all automobile assembly will be done in the US. I believe that 24% of US auto sales are to Canadians. Lutnik likely has never been in an automotive assembly plant and has no idea of the development cost and timeline necessary to accomplish making such a move.

The question I come to is... If we continue to wreck the US economy the way we are headed Who is going to buy all of those cars?

In the meatime China and BYD are ready to make a deal.

FWIW, the average cost of a new car has now passed 50k.

There are still cars priced well below that but no one in the demographic that buys that type of car is buying right now. Most cars being sold now are "luxury" vehicles, thus the higher price. Surely, tarrifs are having some impact but it is more the type of car being sold.

The F150 is most definitely not a "working man's" vehicle any more. The price curve for them has been on a steady rice over the last ten years or more. I bought a new Chevy Colorado three years ago and it cost me $45k. No tariffs in that price, BTW.

I don't think that war is relatively that old. It has really started after the British Empire ruling, sometime in the early 20th century. It did start before the establishment of Israel in 1948.
However, relatively it is not that old in comparison to the war between Shia and Sunni in the same region
Well, actually, I was thinking of the people who lived in the region called Palestine, which has been there long before that. The people would pick and choose allies according to what was happening at any given time. In other words, they were always fighting against someone whether it was the empire controlling the region or one another. The Ottoman Empire was a big enemy which tended to squash them and their cultures. They sold off their lands without Palestinians' knowledge. Later came Theodore Herzl, the original Zionist. Until Zionism, I don't know what the tolerance for Jews there really was. I know some were fine with each other. The British Mandate, of course, followed the dismantling of the Ottoman Empire. But Jews left, Jews came back---all due to oppression from whoever or wherever. In the very late 1800s, my grandparents came here as kids from Russia and Poland because of pogroms. But there were many who fled to Israel or parts of Europe. The history of Palestine is fascinating.

Trump says he has commuted sentence of former Rep. George Santos

President Donald Trump said on social media Friday that he is commuting the sentence of disgraced former Rep. George Santos, who had been serving a seven-year sentence for the fraud charges that got him ousted from Congress.

“George Santos was somewhat of a ‘rogue,’ but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
