Probably too early to know whether or not that will open back up, I’d guess. But i’ve Been dead wrong about medical prognosis many times in the past.

But they don't hit you in tennis...I do think Tua will recover to where this injury is not a factor -- through training and stretching he can be better than ever.

Anyone else think he needs to work on his lateral quickness as well as learning how to fall?
He should also work with the baseball team before he leaves on how to slide.......

He slides like a bulldog on a wet hardwood floor....

Sports medicine, especially relating to pelvic issues of the sort Tua suffered, has never been a panacea conducive to full recovery. Prayers to his full recovery, but he did get injured in a bad, bad way. Here’s to hoping that his youth and vitality see him through to a successful and lucrative pro career. Perhaps it comes down to faith. So far, so good, but we really need to have his blood vessels reattach correctly for him to be successful. All of my best wishes for him as a fine human being, outstanding athlete, and his continued access to top notch convalescence and care facilities.

Over 10 years ago I played tennis with a 42 year old guy who had a complete hip replacement. He was fast with amazing lateral movement and ability to change directions quickly. You would never have known and just thought to yourself this guy has always been an amazing athlete. I was blown away he had a completely artificial hip.

With today's medicine, the absolute world class care and rehab Tua is receiving, and the fact he's one the .001% of the athletes in the world, there is no reason he cannot recover to play QB at the highest level.
And......tennis is not recommended after THR...

Many decades ago, I read a Bob Arnott
Book about older athletes and their difficulties . The gist of it was that the older athletes at top conditioning are excellent players until the next day. That is to say, that they cannot recover from a strenuous days effort’s resultant soreness to return to the field compete effectively the way 20 somethings are able to do so.

And he is right...I've heard more than one football player say that the day they retired is the day they could not crawl from the bed to the hot tub -- and not because of alcohol either!

Toby Keith has a song about that....“I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was.”

North Dallas Forty, the book by Peter Gent (who played for the Dallas Cowboys) immediately comes to my mind.

Dolphins seem to be uneasy on Tua because of his injuries as the Combine gets closer

Miami

"
As the Miami Dolphins have been studying college talent and meeting to develop an organizational plan for the NFL Combine in Indianapolis next week, the team’s emerging view at the top of the quarterback class might surprise some.

Firstly, the club’s view of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is not of a slam-dunk pick near the top the draft. At least not yet. The Dolphins will go through the process of vetting Tagovailoa at the Combine and beyond, as other teams will, before deciding if he’s worth the No. 5 overall selection, which Miami holds in the first round of the April draft.

Secondly, the club has an increasingly positive view of Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert.

Bottom line: Tagovailoa to the Dolphins is not a certainty. And don’t dismiss Herbert to Miami.

One source said the Dolphins are not just concerned about Tagovailoa’s return to full health from the fractured and dislocated hip he suffered last November, but also about his durability in the long-term beyond the current injury.

Tagovailoa suffered multiple ankle and other injuries during his time as the Crimson Tide’s starter and while he has remarkable accuracy and displays other valuable gifts, including leadership, his relative smallish size (approximately 6-foot and 225-230 pounds) and only modest mobility has raised the question about his ability to remain injury free in the NFL.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, obviously aware of the thinking among his personnel men, hinted before the Super Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium that the club was not fully sold on Tagovailoa.

“I’ve been down there to see him. Tua is a great player. I just worry about his health,” Ross said.

He also added: “The coaches really make the decisions on the draft choices. We have to look at what his health is and everything else and see what the alternatives are.” "

If Tua slips out of the top 5 it will be bad for his first contract but it might allow him to actually get to a second contract. I honestly don't want him to go to any team in the top 5 because I do not think even an excellent QB could turn some of these franchises arround unless they change some other things too.
