“We probably have the most talented team that’s ever been at Auburn, top to bottom," Tuberville said Thursday at SEC Media Days, “but we don’t have the one thing you need, and that’s experience."

As far as the Tigers concerned, they won the national title last year even if they were left out of the Bowl Championship Series title game, where Southern Cal beat Oklahoma. The 2005 Auburn media guide unabashedly claims last year’s “People’s Choice" national title as awarded by a fan poll Web site started by a local high school student, but not getting official recognition for the team’s accomplishments is still a sticking point.

Man, these people should be writers for Robin Williams, thisis some really funny stuff.

Tubby is kidding himself if he thinks that this team will challenge for the national title. He better worry about winning the western division first. He's got to beat a loaded LSU team that is looking for revenge and a hopefully healthy Bama squad that he could barely beat last year with four first round draft picks. Let us not forget that experience thing he was talking about, seems to rear is ugly head in the first game. Who is AU playing in the first game? That's right, Georgia Tech. A team that is ranked in the top 25 by many publications. Better be schooling those unexperienced players before Tech comes to town.

Yes their in a hunt alright. Their in the same
hunt that they were in last year: the us national
cracker jack championships and the "eufella" tribune
championships. As you can see they dug reeeeeal
far and hard and came out quite well in those with their pvc
plastic magical rings and mock up award winning publications.

You really just have to love them. They really know how
to hire their personnel at the barn. Everyone of their
coaches since Dye has been an arrogant egotystical
joke who always boasts with their big mouths. Where
is the class at the barn? Their players seemingly have
forever to take on the persona of each coach like that goof
with his extreme all white nerd gear and lame jokes.
Someone needs to teach them how to act in public in front
of the media. Then again we are talking about the lee county
goobers association so this argument is futile.

For Tuberville to declare Auburn as National Champions last year to me just shows a lack of class, but I do think Auburn could be in the hunt for a national title this year. What big time college football program doesn't believe they have a chance to win it all every year? I remember when Alabama used to think they had a chance to win it every year, and I believe that we'll be back to those days fairly soon.

The truth is, if Auburn's offense is able to put up good numbers, they will be a tuff team to beat. I see them winning at least 9 games and probably more.

Tubberville is...

...grandstanding IMO. He may attribut last year's not getting to play for the NC to not being ranked high early enough in the season. As a result, providing that he can get a better initial ranking, he may be working towards that goal for this year.

Being in the hunt for the national title and winnning 9 games are worlds apart. No one is saying AU will not be good, it's just hard for me to believe that they will be as good as last year. Great talent and no major injuries leads to lots of success. If anyone can relate to that Bama fans can. This coming year I don't think the talent is as good on offense and injuries, we'll see. Winning 9 games gets you in the Citrus Bowl, not the nat'l championship game.

Even Southern Cal isn't boasting like this! Win 'em all once, get new shoes and this is the result :biggrin2: How many games before reality sets in? I wonder if the Barn fans are buying into this?

Tubberville doesn't have nearly the team he did last year, and his schedule this year isn't any tougher. Its very hard to go undefeated 2 years in a row, and if he didn't have a tough enough schedule when they went undefeated and had their best team ever, last year, I don't think they have any chance this year/

Auburn will be lucky to win the....

west with us and LSU in the hunt. National Title. No way. For one thing, their star runningbacks are now in the NFL (williams and brown). I don't see Smith being able to put up numbers like those two put up. ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Roles are now reversed

By reading all the repiles to this thread, I have come to the conclusion that we as Bama fans have developed that old Auburn or loser's mentality and Auburn has developed that old Bama or winners mentality. They are at the point to where they think they can compete for National Championships every year. We used to have that attitude, now we only have excuses. Let's stop complaining about what the other school is doing and saying and concentrate on what our team is doing.

Keeping up with your closest rival and stating the obvious is not a loser's mentality. It is smart if you ask me. You better keep up with your competition or you'll find yourself way behind. Anyway, no one is making excuses for Bama's problems. 99% of the problems we have now were self created. We hired bad coaches, let the wrong people get too close to the program, and we got behind in facilities. No one is complaining about what AU is doing, what Bama fans are saying is don't have one good year and claim to be a contender every year. Do it four or five years in a row and we will give AU the proper credit.
