UA - OM Postgame Thread...

Poor "TEAM" effort.

Poor Officiating. We couldn't move without a foul being called against us.

I agree. We couldn't make lay-ups or hit open shots. It just looked like we were a step slow for most of the game. I believe much of the sluggishness was due to the lingering effects of the bug several players (maybe coaches) are dealing with. With as bad as we played, we were still in the game. We just couldn't get over the hump. Some much needed rest and getting everyone well will make a world of difference.

Now, to the officiating. I realize that these are NCAA refs, but I just don't see games called as poorly for other conferences, particularly, the Big East, Big 12, or ACC. Can a conference request that certain crews not call their games? The SEC would probably never do this as their PTB don't seem to care about officiating at all regardless of the sport (I.e., football).

I rarely complain about officiating, but this has to be the same crew that called the first AU game.

BTW - on "kick ball" there is no such thing as offensive kick ball. You can dribble it off you knee etc... You either have control or you don't have control of the ball.

Again I ask does anyone know who are the people in charge of these exact refs? Is there a distinct ncaa sub name group in control of these refs? Who do they answer to? Every employer has bosses so I want to know who takes the heat for these clowns? and also what is their email and phone number?
Last thing included WHO were these referees today and what are their names?

Well, when we beat Auburn for win #20, I think we were a lock to make the tournament...and we played like it. Both teams played poorly, we just played worse than they did. Poor defense especially our blocking out on the boards, poor decisions with the ball, carelessness, poor shot selection, and below average foul shooting cost us. The only reason it was even close at the end was the bad foul shooting by OM. OM pressed us about 3/4 court and we didn't handle it well. We took bad shots and missed when we should've passed, and we made bad passes when we should've shot. It was 55-51 in the final two minutes and we got back-to-back turnovers on OM...and scored zero points. Like I said earlier this season...you gotta learn how to win. Young teams are prone to ups and downs...and today was certainly down. We just gotta persevere....ya never know what the next game will bring. :BigA: RTR!!!

I see it's illegal to criticize or complain nowadays.

That being the case, there is nothing to say about that performance. I guess complaining about the refs is the purpose of this thread.

Not sure what you're talking about, but you can't call a moderator a "smartass." This is not for discussion here. PM me if you want to talk...

We didn't play well, that's for certain. We still made a game up it until the pass on the fast break got away. And we did that with that set of officials. That's something of an accomplishment.

Not sure who was worse though, the officials or the announcers.

We had no answer for their bigs. The only way we kept them from scoring was by fouling. That was the most disheartening thing.

Is Grant sick because he sat with his head in his hands more than I have ever seen him do? And it's difficult to get to the free throw line off of fouls in the paint when you can't get the ball in the paint.

I believe so.

Well figuring that their bigs were entitled to carry the ball, take four steps, charge into our players, and kick the ball....you are right, we had no answer....

Ole Miss is just one of those teams we don't match up well with. Double overtime win at home and pretty much dominated on the road. I for one didn't expect a win today. But this ain't football! The real season is starting next week and with that I expect the excitement will be amped up in practice and the tourneys for our guys. They played hard today but Ole Miss just played better end of story. Its March Madness Baby!!! ;) ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

All in all, Alabama has finished the season very well. Just need one win in the SEC tourney.

It's being said on other sites that due to the weather we didn't get into Oxford until 10:30 last night, and because of that opted to sleep in rather than have a morning shoot around. Couple that with the bug being passed around and you can understand why we looked the way we did.

Still, no excuses. Play like that against USCe, and we become a bubble team again.

I missed the game. I was at the softball game and listened on the radio. Chris made it clear the officials were not calling it both ways. I heard when Releford had a 4-1 break and took it to the hole without dishing. Stewart said he had 3 guys who could have dunked, but instead he forced the shot. There in fellas lies the problem. I think Coach Grant called it entitled.

I still think we are in, but a loss to USC could change things. We had the chance to take this scenario out of the equation, but choked every time we the opportunity to to control our own destiny. No leadership on this team period. You can't ask freshman to lead you.
