Question: How many colleges actually have kicking coaches. Iknow the NCAA limits the number of coaches and GA's that a team has, so just wondered how many used one for the kickers.
I'm not sure. I think the key to it is finding a GA or coach who can also coach kickers. It always seems to be an after thought, I'm not suggesting we take a coach away from something else but just make it less of an after thought, that's all. Whatever we are doing already maybe just do a little more might make a difference.

I trust that Saban will take care of the kicking problems. We may never know what he does and may only see results of it, but I think it will be fine in time. I know, in the past, when we had a weak area, it got fixed. Let's just be patient with it and look for Cade, in the Dome, to be putting them into the end zone on Jan 9. I'd love a 48 yard FG to beat LSU for #14 to redeem himself. Then again, I'd rather beat them bad so we don't have to hear, "They beat yall by 3 and yall beat them by 3, so you should share the NC!!!" Ah, 33 days folks!!!

Brandon Moore, a former 4* DT, that went to JUCO this year has committed to Texas. Gonna be reunited with former Bama DL coach Bo Davis. Congrats to him

A friend of mine was in T-town today with Dr. Kevin Elko and Saban. he said that Elko met one on one with Foster, and that Foster was good to go. Lay off the kickers. We had no business trying a couple of those kicks we tried against LSU. Just a bad judgment call by the Coach. Won't happen next time.

On another note, one of our great kickers from the mid 60's recently was quoted as saying that Alabama has not employed a kicking coach since coach Bryant left. If that's true, our kicking woes make more sense.

We've had some successful kickers since Coach Bryant retired. Both Tiffins and Phillip Doyle spring to mind.

Whatever happened to Jimmy Barnes?
He was benched at Weber State . Barnes was the silver spoon type who had never really worked hard prior to college . Once he had to compete , he failed to .

Thanks, LCN. How about Ivan Matchett? He was quickly forgotten about once Coffee and then Ingram got rolling...

I'm really interested in BJ Scott. With all the hype coming in and his obviously athletic ability, it pained me that he never found a positional home.
BJ played DB at South Alabama this year and has done reasonably well, I really haven't kept up, but the few games I saw, he played well and has become a leader on the team.

Gene Stallings was asked on Finebaum...... If they can kick it, just let them do it and don't mess with them.
I didn't hear the interview but I can just hear him saying those exact words. In his accent it would sound wonderful.

Not a transfer, but who was the punter (early 2000s) that would go out there and boom kick after kick and (if memory serves) did it with a broken/hurt leg, too?

Lane Bearden! One of my all time fans.

He had a torn ACL his senior year and played on, even making tackles.

That guy was a stud.
