And it should be noted that USC was practically playing a home game. How much of an advantage do you think that must have been?
it sure sounded like texas had a huge crowd there. it was hard to tell they were in cali.CapstoneStan said:And it should be noted that USC was practically playing a home game. How much of an advantage do you think that must have been?
No doubt they travel well, but the advantage to a team not to travel at all would be substantial.Littlewing said:it sure sounded like texas had a huge crowd there. it was hard to tell they were in cali.
stupid nonsense comment you could work for espn talkin about sc like that....better team won last night sc played the best game they have played since last years title game and i think they played better than that. its not an upset when you get beat by a better overall team...good job hornskdheisman06 said:Southern Cal is still the best team in the Nation. They were not tonight thus they lost the title. They got upset in historic fashion. Unfortunately for them this isnt boxing where they c/d rematch and win 64-30. Vince Young is great but SC is better. They win 9 out of 10 with Texas. unfortunately for SC this was one of them.
I've got three names: Ricky Williams. Roy Williams. Cedric Benson.TideFan in AU said:Yeah, he's 82 - 19 in eight years at Texas. Terrible head coach. Maybe the "suckiest" ever![]()
Excellent post.WrollTyde said:USC is a very good, but not great, team. No great team coughs up 23 pts per game. For comparison, Alabama's 1961 NC squad allowed 25 pts the ENTIRE season.
good one playerPlayerUA said:Actually, no. They aren't.
See they played this game called a "championship." In that championship they keep track of a thing called "points."
The team with the most points..."wins."
USC is not one of the greatest teams of all time...they arent even the best team of 2005. Maybe ESPN can run a month of promos now for the best 1 loss team in history.
Brett makes an excellent point by saying that USC has clearly been the most dominant team over the past few years. 2 national championships (or 1.5, whichever) is impressive for some teams and their existance...much less over three seasons. I dont think anyone could dispute that.BamaNation said:i think if we include the last 3 or 4 years, USC ranks up there with the best of the best over a span of consecutive seasons (i.e. UA a couple times, OU, ND, etc) . However, not having to play 7 or 8 tough conference games each year makes their accomplishments a bit less impressive IMHO. The hype they were given just set them up for a bigger fall in the end. The best 1-loss teams would make an excellent ESPN Studios production![]()
