UT PA Announcer

For anyone at the game did you notice how the PA announcer started talking just as we were in our snap count when we were going for 2? Was this a mistake or planned? Regardless IMO it was just plain tacky!!

I did!! Their PA announcer was not the smartest there is. He also said the following:

"...and it's Tennessee 1rst and goal at...........the goal."

everybody started laughing. there were other instances of mediocrity as well from him throughout the game. Being at opposing teams' facilities always make me realize how great Bryant Denny and the Bama staff are.

I remember the "first and goal..(pause)...from the goal" announcement but I think it was before JPW's QB sneak for the Alabama TD. The PA announcer paused before giving the yard marker but I think it was because the ball was only inches from the goal line. To have announced it on the "1" would not have been as accurate as saying it was on the goal line. That is just my best recollection since I haven't seen the replay. I also thought he maintained the same level of enthusiasm for both teams in his announcements but I was standing very close to the speakers in the corner of the end zone for a good bit of the game so it was very loud every time he spoke. There were very few occasions for him to be enthusiastic about anything ut was doing.

i did hear him announce the final score on the rammer jammer video someone posted on here - when i heard that, i thought he had announced it a little enthusiastically.

A low class announcer for a low-class stadium........

Sorry, but this stadium is built to house as many people as possible, as close to one another as possible, etc.........

I hate to sound like an elitist; but BDS is still one of the nicest places with the nicest people. That includes the announcers who would never do anything to interfere with the on-field activities. It's so impolite to butt-in when an intense moment exists, whereas most people know better; but I guess we just assume too much! lol

I guess we are all spoiled by the great facilites at BDS and "THE" University too; and we should talk it up and let everyone know that we are extremely proud of it all......

Factoid: The Oklahoma State Cowboys get most of their funding from the wealthy alumnus Mr. Pickens.........he's given millions and millions to up-grade the facilities there, whereas "we" fans and alumni have given to do it to our University..........a bit of difference and pride factor, dontcha think?:BigA:
