I told my friends that before the season started that we should run some option and wishbone. Blake Sims at QB, Eddie and Trent at RB's at Fowler at FB. I'm sure it would have served us well against lsu and I am sure we will see more of this if we play them again. Can we get any of this in by the aubren game. What do ya'll think?:BigA::):BigA:

I don't know about that, but if I'm Ole Miss, I'd go after Georgia Southern's coach and use that option to shorten games and try to level the playing field some what. May not be able to win the SEC but they could be a lot more competitive year in and year out on a consistent basis.

The reason 'option teams' typically run the option exclusively is because it takes incredible amounts of practice to 'install' - you essentially have to get to the point that deciding to pitch or keep the ball is instinctive.

It would take months of practice to get to the point we could run the option like GSU.

This is true. If we had a more mobile QB we could be effective with some speed option type plays that LSU runs with Jefferson w/o a whole lot of practice. However, a true triple option out of the Flexbone or Wishbone would take a ton of practice time. They aren't part-time offenses.

Ole Miss would become my 3rd favorite team if they did that.

I'd love to see Fowler lead blocking for Trent, personally. I like that Saban's running the pistol formation and think we need to see more of it.

Not sure some of you realize just how long it takes to actually implement an option offense and run it successfully. This type of offense takes a whole lot more than one week or even month to have it be effective and not a detriment.

Someone trying to run this type of offense in a short time period of practice would lead to a ton of turnovers and negative plays.

But it's so easy to run on NCAA 12!

:)

Missing a key ingredient - a dangerous QB. Ours isn't much of a threat in the air, much less on the ground.

If we want to get AJ killed there are more efficient ways of doing it. Not many more certain,,, but plenty just as effective.
It would take three years to recruit enough skill players and teach the right OL cut-blocking techniques.
