In different circumstances, Kiffin could -- maybe even should -- leave Ole Miss. But not these circumstances.

Coach Bryant did the exact same thing. He left Texas A&M toward the end of what probably would have been a championship season for Alabama.

Kiffin's going to leave. He may not even really want to, but he will. All his assistants want promotions. He won't be able to keep this staff and may lose some even if they're in play for a championship and maybe especially if he announces he's staying.

He has a rebuilding effort no matter what and will get better money and a better situation at Florida. He can name his price and promote assistants and allow some to have the opportunity to be hired at Ole Miss. This will farm good feelings about everybody who works for him now and are considering working for him in the future. If he stays, not so much. Plus, he'll have to compete against some younger dudes who he's given Florida and LSU to as a gift while they poach his assistants and players. Watching a lesser coach take a better job that you turned down, beat you for players and coaches because they have better finances would not be fun.
