Thin Lizzy's version was actually closer to the Metallica version as far as arrangement. Phil Lynott (Lead Singer) was really big into his Irish Heritage.I always knew this was a folk song first, but after 20+ years of hearing the Metallica cover it was odd at first. Still a good song though.

I have a photo of them somewhere......a whole stack of Willie LP's left at the curb in my Mom's neighborhood. A few Waylon's and others tossed in for good measure. I got them before they got any damage from the heat, etc.A little Willie. I got to see him when I was in High School in the 80s. One of the best Concerts I've ever attended which includes early Iron Maiden and Metallica.
