What I Learned Yesterday (Week 7)

I learned the BCS plot changes each week.

Ask Alabama last week.
Ask Nebraska and Ohio State this week.

A one loss team is not out of it yet.

I get a kick out of all the pundits acting like it's the end of the world when a top 10 team loses, like it never happens. Herbstreit actually called it Apocalypse Saturday yesterday. Sell the sizzle, not the steak, right? Teams from BCS conferences don't go undefeated that often.

no they really dont actually until bama did it i have never seen it i dont count boise or tcu they play nobody so they get no love

I learned

1. Our defense is still not great.
2. Our special teams when they focus can be good, and are not as terrible as feared.
3. Our offense is really not that special.
4. That we need to figure things out or there is no way we are beating LSU or the Barn.
5. The Barn would be nothing without Cam Newton, and it kills me that the Barner fans were right to be excited. God, I wish someone would shut them up.
6. The Barn's best defensive strategy for winning is to take out the quarterback or seriously injure him. (3 times so far this year).
7. We are desperate for a bye week.
8. Turns out none of our wins have been that special considering everyone we have played so far has done poorly since we played them.
9. We still can't tackle for ****

Things I look forward to learning in Week 8
1. When two coaches make a deal with the Devil (Miles and Cheeze-it), who does the devil favor?

I learned "YET AGAIN" that Cam Newton is the real deal but shut him down or limit him and AU is DEAD MEAT! They've got NOTHING without him! No "D", No real "O"! ONLY CAM!

I also learned that since the Heisman is about the MOST VALUABLE player most of the time rather than the BEST that Cam Newton is without question this years man!

1. Our defense is playing better each week (minus USCe week). Even though it was Ole Miss, and they made some mistakes, we got consistent pressure on Masoli. I was actually surprised how good our pressure was. And our coverage is pretty good, there were several balls batted down.

2. This is a domino effect of ineffectiveness going on on offense. McElroy's unwillingness to take shots down field combined with the playcalling from McElwain has left defense's completely unafraid of us going vertical on them. Therefore, they load the box. This ensures that our running game, which should be the strength of the team, is stagnant. Our offensive line, which will always be the strength of the Bama offense, appears to have played below standards. However this could be a result of GMac holding the ball too long on passing plays or other teams loading the box. Or maybe our offense has been so ineffective they can't get pumped and impose their will.

3. Our playcalling on offense is predictable and makes it look like the coaches don't have faith in the players. We keep going with things we know probably won't work over newer things. McElwain is a questionable playcaller.

4. CNS is not willing to take enough risks. At the USCe game on the first drive, we should have went for it on fourth and one instead of kicking the field goal. There were several times we should have went for it against Ole Miss on fourth and one, when we had it in their territory, and there was no danger of losing the game. And if Greg continues to struggle, why not put AJ in? Especially considering we were never really in danger of losing to Ole Miss. We have yet to see what our run game is capable of if we spread the field. I can understand not taking a risk when what you are doing isn't working, but right now what we're doing has looked mediocre. Why not try something new?

5. Our offense has no fire.

6. Yes BamaNation loves to gripe. That's why we have Nick Saban as a coach instead of Mike Shula. And CNS said he enjoys the pressure.

1. Bama won their homecoming game against a team that has had their number defensively for the past three years.

2. Ole Miss, the No. 5 scoring offense in the country, got held 22 points below its season average while their QB Masoli was 18 of 40 passing for 97 yards, one touchdown and one interception, by a young Bama defense.

3. That if McElroy will take 5 sacks, with not so much as one throw-away attempt, and McElwain will only call pass plays to the TE in the redzone, and they win... the heck with my whining! I'll take it!

4. That I'll take any win, good, bad, pretty, ugly, low score, high score, good weather, bad weather, loud fans, quite fans, they dominate stats, we dominate stats, 1 point win, 60 point win, against Texas, against Shelton State. A win ain't a loss ever.

5. That I pull for every single SEC school cause I want them undefeated when we play in the regular season or the SEC Championship game. Champions only thrive on beating the best.

I learned that Herbstreit's preseason Auburn pick is looking smarter and smarter.

...our offense is like T. Pryor- overhyped in the preseason.

...I am looking forward to seeing how LSU's defense holds up against AU.

...SC couldn't handle the target on their back for even one week.

...Georgia may end up being the best team in the East before the season is out.

...being the best team in the East doesn't mean much.

...our defense definitely isn't great, but they were playing hard and fighting.

...Nebraska lost to the only decent team they have played.

...as always, winning beats the crap out of losing.

Hard to argue with any of this, sans the first line. ;)

1. We miss Mike Johnson

2. GMac has lost the confidence in his medium to deep pass.

3. Our defense is growing up.

4. Special teams are a very pleasant surprise.

So one season after winning the BCS we should get rid of Coach McElwain and send Coach Shula an ultimatum to amp up his game or pack his bags? I'm just asking cause that's how it sounds.

1. Greg still has zero touch on the deep ball.
2. D line is still 50% without a healthy Marcel.
3. O-line is half as good as last season.
4. My 6 year daughter can punt better than our current kicker.

I dont think playcalling is the problem. I think it is more execution. I wouldnt trade CJM for anybody or any of our other coaches for that matter. There is a dynamic within the team at play here that is affecting our performance.

Look, we dont always know what play is called; we dont know what the #1 route is; we dont what the hot route is. All I know is I am seeing an awful lot of audibles at the LoS. All I know is we have a very conservative QB that the offense runs through who wants to be a "Field General".

In the past, I would have questioned coach decisions, game planning, player development by previous coaching staffs; however, I dont and wont with this staff. If we are not getting the production we want, which we arent, it is on the backs of the players, injuries, and inexperience.

I think Mandel landed 4 punts inside the 20 and had a long of 50 or more.

1. Maze is a good option for returning punts.

2. Our O-Line has difficulty blocking the 7 or 8 defenders they must contend with on every play.

3. Cam is Auburn and Auburn is Cam.

4. A hobbling Darius must be better than any of the healthy DEs on the bench.

5. Auburn players are superhuman. They lack our depth and play 11 games without a bye... but we're the ones in bad need of a bye week...:aiwebs_013:

"What I've learned" is
-We won the 2009 BCS National Championship.
-It's hard to repeat.
-The 2010 team is not last years team.
-Other teams have gotten better while at the same time we've taken a slight downturn.
-We won the 2009 BCS National Championship.
-It's hard to repeat.
-This team is finding its identity
-We won the 2009 BCS National Championship.
-It's hard to repeat.

We just came off a 14-0 Championship season. We hadn't lost a regular season game in two and some odd YEARS! As hard as it is to repeat in today's game why can't we allow some room for a "reloading" process? I expect to lose one possibly two more games. The championship group is G A W N!!! It's time to BUILD another championship group. It is possible that the team can put all together the rest of the way and possibly be in Arizona. But I seriously doubt it. We've got a lot players on the field that are still growing and developing into the types of players it takes to win a championship.

If we go 10-2 or 9-3 in the regular season I won't be disappointed. Simply because I know what we have in regards to young talent and they will only get better for next year. We can't win it every year and in today's landscape you have to take things in cycles simply ride the cycle. The only thing you can expect is to mitigate how far you fall when you get knocked off the top of the mountain and how long it takes you to get back to the top. But make no mistake you won't STAY on top. Not in today's football landscape.

I think they need rest and we will be back on track.. Heck, we only lost one game.
I feel the game last night was too late at night. I wasn't even fired up that late.
Could be worse, at least we are not the Rebel Black Bears.... LOL
Roll Tide Roll !

Shoot I was confused as what to yell last night during Rammer Jammer.Do I say Hey Bears?or Hey Rebels? The crowd chose rebels.
