I think Coffee was much better than that. But I do think his numbers would be down this year because he would've been sharing the carries with Ingram. Consequently, Ingram's numbers would not be as good, either, and he probably would not be a Heisman candidate.
Last year Ingram got a little banged up and Coffee carried the load and was very good, IMHO. I think the timing was right for him to go pro. But if he was back this year we would have the best 1-2 punch in college football.
I think that is exactly how it would have gone down with the exception of the RS for Trent... He may well be gone after three years (hope not) and a RS would have burned one of them. Coffee saw the writing on the wall he made a good choice.CNS plays the best players at every position. We might have been able to shirt TR, but I am pretty sure that Ingram would be our starter...
No doubt! I remember a few years ago when our backs spent most of their time juking and dancing. Of course, that was partly due to the poor blocking up front. But Coach Burns has these kids kicking and clawing and scratching and fighting for every yard. I love how physical our RBs are. They hit the line with authority and punish the tacklers.I see a trend here. SOMEBODY, probably Coach Burns, is really doing a helluva job coaching these already talented backs up. I expected a dropoff this year due to the OL inexperience, but instead we are actually doing better at the running back position.
Props to the staff and to the kids themselves for making such an improvement year over year.

Lets not forget a guy who is signing with us out of Vigor this coming class...could get interesting!Who's to say we don't have the best 1-2 punch this year? And I'm equally excited about Mr. Lacy joining the rotation next year! Talk about a 1-2-3 punch!
My questions would be: Did you watch any games last year? Did you not see what he did to Clemson, Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, UT, Auburn, etc.Personally, I was never a big fan of Coffee. He was "doable" for me, but that's about it.
I do think Ingram is the better back and had Coffee stayed, his stats wouldn't be nearly as amazing as Ingram's are. He wasn't exactly the type of guy that would gain yards after initial contact (the way Ingram is), but instead would drop right on the spot.
So personally, I'm glad he left early.
Nice. Even nicer because it's true. Not to kill the topic, but next year's Ingram/Richardson duo will be comparable to McFadden/Jones of a few years ago. It's scary.
wow....I thought he was a helluva runner myself.Personally, I was never a big fan of Coffee. He was "doable" for me, but that's about it.
Coffee would be the starter. Has anybody noticed that Saban likes seniors on the field, when possible? My take: Knowing Saban will only play the very best at each position, maybe Glen saw the writing on the wall and knew it was time to bolt for the NFL while the boltin' was good. He made a great decision apparently, and Alabama continues to roll with Ingram and Richardson. Win-win. It's all good. Rock on... :ROCKER:

I don't believe this was ever in the cards. Trent was Bama all the way. Florida was out of the mix early...I think Trent would be a gator![]()
