Question: What is the chant during "Dixieland Delight"?

Rest of it is fine, imo. That last part, if that's what's being chanted, is disgraceful.

Agreed. I went to Texas Tech for law school and sitting in the student section, they added similar phrases to the end of the fight song (not even an outside popular song). Very disgraceful. It's not the image you want people to associate with your university (the way a lot of the younger LSU fans act is in similar fashion).

I was at the Iron Bowl last year - had no idea what they were saying.

I find it amusing that a fan base that emphasizes "class" has not spoken up against this. If what I read on You Tube is correct - esp the last - it's a disgrace.

i heard all kinds of salty stuff going to bama games in the late 70s and through the 80s.

We used to Rammer Jammer before the game when the visiting team ran out on the field, " We're Gonna Beat the H___ out of you!"
Somebody took a dim view of our attitude later on and I heard made us quit.

yep, i remember that well. i always noticed that my dad would change the subject when i would ask what a superfreak was ;)

Yep. The "PC police" made a huge deal out of it and tried to kill the post game chant, too. Bless their little hearts.

I've been to 4 games this year (3 in BDS) and never noticed any added lyrics at all. No one around me was singing anything loud enough to hear.

The last part about Auburn doesn't even flow well. I mean, it's just a poorly sung add on. Also - classless.

I have been asking what the students were saying during this song for the past couple of years. I was going to ask my son before the game since he is now one of them but I forgot. Just so happens that a recent grad was sitting in our section Saturday. He filled us in on the chant. I laughed at the parts up to the last bit. I told them that I wouldn't be saying that because it didn't fit and was inappropriate.

I guess you have to take the good and the bad when you ask for the participation of 18-21 year olds.

eta: I have never actually heard the auburn part. Folks usually just say another "Roll Tide".

I've never heard bad language used with it either. Perhaps the students chant something different, but no around me uses words that would offend me. For anyone who does use foul words at a game or gets intoxicated, remember there are literally thousands of children at the games. Dont embarrass yourself and those around you by using bad language or acting like an idiot at the game.

IF you sit in the student section one time you'll hear it loud and clear.

I agree it is classless...and while it's primarily students doing it...it makes the fan base and school look bad.

I was at the game Saturday vs lsu. The added on parts, besides the normal drink beer and roll tide, were added by the students. I was sitting on the 40 behind the lsu bench and could not understand what they were saying. The person I was sitting with is a recent grad, and she said whatever the lyrics the students have added are new.

Two weeks ago everyone was complaining that the students were not participating as much as they should. I was proud of the student section on Saturday. They were the loudest and stayed the longest. They had the whole stadium standing and chanting.

I'll never understand people that get upset when they hear foul language at a game. It's football. Just listen to the coaches and players talking. Or lee corso, lol. A game like lsu vs Bama is no place for small children, imo.

Well I have 2 small children and I understand those people perfectly well. A college football game, especially an Alabama game, should be a safe, family atmosphere period. We don't want to be Baton Rouge, for goodness' sake. A mass chant like this, you can't do much about, I realize. But if you were near me at the game repeatedly and loudly using bad language around my wife and children, I'd politely ask you to refrain, maybe even twice. After that, we'd have a problem mano y mano.

Well....I love the song and the experience in bryant-Denny. Never understood the chant.... Don't really want to know. Unfortunately, showing class seems to be a fading Bama tradition .

fwiw, I am fine with my kids being there. It's just language.

I suggest you not go to a Tennessee game when they are good enough to play Rocky Top.
Oh, I'm old enough to not be bothered by it, and I'd not be surprised if ut chanted something worse - just saying it's sad that some of our fans do so with children around.

And frankly, I've been to a LOT of ut games over the years - they've never beat us when I was there. And as long as CNS remains at the helm,. I don't expect I'll hear it much...
