What music are you diggin'?

Bazza, your Chuck Mangione video reminded me of Chris Botti's National Anthem from Monday Night Football. If you didn't get to see it, suffer through the commercials up front and you'll hear the best rendition of the National Anthem I've ever heard.

I got to see Chuck Mangione at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis back in the 70's. I'll always love his music. Thanks for posting.

That was beautiful, Go Bama.....simply beautiful. I never would have thought hearing our national anthem without vocals would be so moving. Well done and thanks so much for sharing.

This cover band does a nice job with this song.....

I haven't been keeping up with Idol too much this season but this chicks rocks this song out pretty good. I love the Randy Jackson standup bass accompaniment as well. Good luck Joey!

U2 "The Joshua Tree"

My One Direction and Five Seconds of Summer loving 15 year old daughter was in the car with me the other day and looking through a few CD's I had with me. I played "Beautiful Day" for her and she had no idea it was U2 ("are they like... The Beatles?") :) I then played "Plush" by STP and she actually liked it.

The only reason she knew about U2 was because the new iphones play a random U2 song or some such.....

I'm working on her.

I've been listening to this song and off and on trying to play it for a couple of years now. The song, guitar tone, and tuning (DADGAD) are haunting.

that's nice. the tone and melody are reminiscent of michael hedges. i like playing around in dadgad (i also like a "drop" em where i capo the top 5 strings at 2 and leave the low e free.) i am not a fingerpicker (strictly flatpicking for me), but i do like listening to this style. i do have to say, i like this guy's approach more than some of that finger tap stuff. that get's a little overused (imho)

darryl scott does a lot of pick/fingerpick mix where he is using a pick and three fingers. i saw him do a few riffs live that blew me away when i actually realized what he was doing.

for y'alls listening pleasure if you have a spare 25 minutes to watch and listen.

scott's rhythm playing in the second song (brother wind) blew me away, and both are incredible instrumentalists and vocalists. definitely worth seeing them if you ever get the chance

Outstanding! That's just good music. Thanks ... I'm glad I had a spare 25 minutes.

Julie Andrews has gotten hoarse.

when i saw them, they were about 6 months into the tour and just insanely tight on the instruments and the vocal harmonies. they played over 2 1/2 hours in a venue with about 80 folks. it was one of the better nights of music i have ever seen. tim o'brien has a good amount of stuff available on you tube. he is very good on mando, fiddle, guitar, bouzouki and clawhammer banjo.

i only know darryl scott through his work with tim o'brien, but he is a very good solo act as well from what folks have told me.

i highly recommend their latest combined effort "memories and moments".
