:BigA: What position is the absolute must have for 2012?
1. QB
2. RB
3. WR
4. TE
5. OL
6. DL
7. LB
8. DB

I'll go DB for now, until we see what is behind the starters.
Below is our depth at the DB positions. Those in bold COULD all be gone next year.
CB: Dre Kirkpatrick, Phelon Jones, Dequan Menzie, Dee Milliner, John Fulton, Chris Jones
S: Mark Barron, Robby Green, Robert Lester, Will Lowery, Kendall Kelly, Jarrick Williams, Nick Perry, Hasean Clinton-Dix.

We could very well be down to 3 scholarship CBs next Spring if Dre leaves early, with one potentially leaving the next year.

Of course, I don't know if there's a right or wrong answer here...

I've gotta say QB considering the situation we would be in if Sims or McCarron transfers before -- or even after -- the season.

GreatDanish makes a good observation about how much we could be losing at DB after next year, though. We need some guys to develop quickly there.

Quarterback is a dire need, especially if Sims transfers (which I really really really hope he doesn't); and then what if AJ turns out to be a stud and turns pro his redshirt junior year? (I admit this is unlikely in a Saban offense). I think Ely will be a good backup quarterback but he's no GMac, and definitely not a Sims or McCarron. I'd love to get Lambert but I feel he's UGA bound. Winston would be an excellent addition though.

I feel better about the running back position after watching Taylor's highlight vid. I think we he was a real steal. If we can get another stud RB like Sanders then this will be another outstanding RB class for CNS.

Lambert's dad gives us a big advantage for now, but if Winston commits first, it will be interesting to see if anything changes.

Back to the thread: At least one great QB, a pass rusher and our next All-American linebacker. No need to be greedy.

Lambert has mentioned several times that he is aware that we want two sign to QB's in this class and he is fine with competition. Now granted that's an 17 year old kid talking but I still feel good about our chances with him.

Landing Lambert would be huge. He could end up being an even better QB prospect than Phillip Sims. Landing Lambert and Winston would seriously be unfair. I would feel bad that one of them would probably never get to start at Bama.

AT, I've seen the same stuff and it always sounds very promising. I hope he says the same things this summer or next fall when he commits.

That is the kind of kid that I think we all want to have, especially at the QB position. So many kids want to be the one and only. It is nice to see we are going after and picking up players who want the competition to better themselves and our team.
