I agree wholeheartedly with Titanic being overrated.

My number one by far. You need to dump the popcorn and use the bag multiple times.

2. A Beautiful Mind
3. Scarface
4. English Patient
5. Monster's Ball or Fargo

2001 is horribly slow for the first half of the movie. i liked the original matrix but the sequels were unbearable..... i still say that if my only two choices are to be enslaved by a computer or be saved by Keanu then I will take slavery every single time.

I liked Saving Pvt Ryan, Munich, Schindler's List, Empire of the Sun, Munich.

When he goes for the schmaltzy sentimentality (E.T., for example), I would agree with you.

I'm also in that minority of film buffs who never really "got" the Indiana Jones films.

I go to movies to be entertained not to learn any life's lessons or hone up on any historical facts. Even if they got all the historical stuff wrong and I was entertained I'm shallow enough to say I enjoyed the film. I like action adventure, comedy, drama, thrillers, mysteries and some horror. I do have favorite actors, actresses and producers that have failed me just as some highly praised films have.

It's hard for me to define how other's rate films, so I'll just go with Pictures of the Year.

1. The English Patient - The only Picture of the Year that I could not even finish. I do not recall what other movies came out that year, but it must have been a terribly thin year.
2. Rain Man - A fine movie, but not one that was great in any way, aside from Dustin Hoffman's acting.
3. Chariots of Fire - Similar to Rain Man, in that I thought it was a fine movie. But, pretty much when it was over, I didn't think about it again.
4. Titanic - I can give this movie some props, because I can understand why it got the notoriety it did.
5. Sixth Sense - Ok, so I am aborting my "Picture of the Year" criteria for this one. People put this on the list among the most thrilling movies ever, and I didn't think it was that thrilling. Surprise ending? Yes, but not moreso than Primal Fear, which is never in the conversation.

I went with a group in high school to see Titanic. The only reason most of the guys went was because one of the guys was a true aquaphobic, and we had to see his reaction. Why in the world he went to this flick was beyond me. He made it to the iceberg hit and then he was GONE! He turned ghostly and bolted. It was pretty hilarious at the time, and we did have fun ragging that movie throughout.

I either did not see or do not recall many of the movies listed. I do not know what defines overated but i thought Rocky, Forrest Gump and Titantic were good movies that were very successful. I liked two of the spiderman movies and a few of the batman movies but i dont recall which.

I did not care for...

1.The English Patient
2.Bad News Bears (remake)
3.Field of Dreams (although I like it better now)
4.Pirates 2
5.Any of the Star Wars

The new Bond films do not seem to click either.
