AMEN!!!! It was ridiculous to see the so called fans up and decide to leave during the middle of the 4th quarter. And if the reason is b/c they wanted to avoid traffic, You're gonna be stuck in traffic no matter what time you leave the game...It's Tuscaloosa and on a gameday! I agree with it being embarrassing.DiamondDust said:As far as I'm concerned, you are alone. I could care less what team we're playing... I want to hear Ramma Jamma at the end if we are winning.
Honestly, if you want something to be embarrased about... be embarrased about the people who left mid-way through the 4th quarter. Nothing annoys me more than that, whether we are winning or losing.
The Tidalwave said:During the final seconds of the game on Saturday night, I was personally appauled to hear the Million Dollar Band strike up two choruses of the Rammer Jammer cheer. "We just beat the hell out of Utah State?" So what ... who doesn't? Humble USU was at no point any real threat to Alabama, talked no trash during game week, isn't a rival of the Tide, and therefore didn't deserve the rub-in.
This is fact - there are times to be arrogant and times to show modesty and refrain. If Bama beats a conference team, a top 20 team, or a squad that beat the Tide the year before, then the cheer has merit. Otherwise, it's uncalled for. Personally, I was embarrassed when those who hadn't already left for the exits belted out that tune, as if beating a lowly Division I school was some great accomplishment.
Am I alone in my principals here? If not, Alabama post-20th century is not the school I've grown routing for ...
T-Mac I love you!!!!! LOL!!!!TommyMac said:If I were a USU player or fan, I'd be more pi$$ed off at your demeaning comments about my team than the singing of Rammer Jammer.
In case you haven't noticed, folks are about fed up with having all this political correctness crammed down our throats.
Well then if its "classless and unsportsmanlike" then Bama shouldn't play it after winning any game, inlcuding Tennessee and Auburn. It doesn't matter who you play, Rammer Jammer is a tradition and there's nothing wrong with continuing with tradition. It's not like we are intentionally offending USU, every team Bama beats hear's the same thing. It's just a part of playing Bama. I think it just gets the stadium even more excited about the win. I know that after hearing Rammer Jammer it got me even more excited about this upcoming season.CrimsonGlory said:It's classless and unsportsmanlike.
No...I wish I had though.....:biggrin2:TommyMac said:BB2006,
I noticed that young Will was in street clothes Saturday night.
Did you have anything to do with that? Fess up Missy.
If you dont like it dont go to the games. They have been playing that for years and they are not going to stop for you or anyone else. The Tidalwave said:During the final seconds of the game on Saturday night, I was personally appauled to hear the Million Dollar Band strike up two choruses of the Rammer Jammer cheer. Why? Because we did?The Tidalwave said:During the final seconds of the game on Saturday night, I was personally appauled
Actually, that's the song. Go but a MDB cd and you'll notice, the cheer runs through the corus twice. Why play half a song? There are plenty of cheers in which the chorus is played twice, even one version of "Yea Alabama"! Should we cut those in half too?The Tidalwave said:to hear the Million Dollar Band strike up two choruses of the Rammer Jammer cheer.
No, it's sung to the turn of the mascot is it fits, if not then it's reverted to the school name. thus, it was sung to the tune of "Hey Aggies!". Personally, I found it quite satisfing in more than one context. The Tidalwave said:"We just beat the hell out of Utah State?"
They were as much a threat as any other team on the schedule. The Tidalwave said:So what ... who doesn't? Humble USU was at no point any real threat to Alabama
How would you know? Do you live in their locker room? The Tidalwave said:, talked no trash during game week,
Nether is Hawaii, but we'd have sang it none-the-less had we beat them by 31 with a band in attendance. The Tidalwave said:isn't a rival of the Tide, and therefore didn't deserve the rub-in.

Why? should we not celebrate? It's been 10 months since we have had the taste of victory and it's about time. I, along with most of the other 83k in attendance was quite ready to celebrate to the top of our lungs. The Tidalwave said:Otherwise, it's uncalled for.
After going 4-9, it is. If you are so embarrassed then by all means spend the $2 on a pair of ear plugs. When teams come to play Bama, they know if we beat the hell out of them then we're going to let them know it in the end. Even after this was said and done, as it has many times before, almost everyone from a rival school speaks VERY highly of how they were treated by our fans and school. The Tidalwave said:Personally, I was embarrassed when those who hadn't already left for the exits belted out that tune, as if beating a lowly Division I school was some great accomplishment.
I don't think this is so much a "principal" (or principle for that matter) as it is your own personal feels on the matter. The Tidalwave said:Am I alone in my principals here?
post-20th century Alabama? Whay about pre-20th century? So you can justify a school that used to be the foreground of the segregation movement, but this one song has you questioning your allegiences? Wouldn't you say this is quite petty? The Tidalwave said:If not, Alabama post-20th century is not the school I've grown routing for ...
The facts of the matter are:
1. The University of Alabama is a great school, working towards excellence every moment that passes. the past is the past, and the present is independent thereof.
2. "Rammer Jammer" is an overwhelming fan favorite and that will probably not change any time soon.
3. We really did beat the hell out of the Aggies, whether or not we sing the aforementioned song.
4. If one song makes you question your allegience, maybe it's not the song.
5. I'm typing on a Mac and have yet to fully adjust to this keyboard so this post is likely riddled with msipeligns.![]()
