Where did the term "Natty" come from?

We can retire "natty" because I hate it, but we also need permission to throat punch any lame brain on here who uses the Porta-Potty filling phrase "Bama fatigue" in reference to the committee. I swear, I get sick of reading that in a typical redneck Alabama voice, "Cause da Bama fatigue is REEEL!!!" It's one of those things that if you knew what it came off the page as, you'd stop immediately because it screams "Billy Carter's Service Station."

I had the word "natty," I hate the words "Bama fa-TEAGUE" and I've aired my grievances

SERENITY NOW!!!!

I've seen it used more and more on TideFans, which is disturbing.
It has been used on Tidefans for years. Probably as long as I’ve been on here anyways (14yrs, yikes!). Another popular one used to be “MNC”. That kind of died out in 2014 though haha. Never liked either, but to each his own.

But nobody cares about Oregon or watches the Pac-12 and it's not why it entered into popular lexicon.

It was Dabo using it postgame after beating us for the 2016 Title that caused it to spread throughout CFB like a Hillbilly STD.

Really? It was on Tidefans in 2011....right after Oregon got plucked

a lot lately bc of cam newton and the natty champ. however, we need to quickly get back to normal and stop making them relevant to our daily discussion.

shutting out LSU in the natty game

=======================

That wasn't even a detailed search.

But let's not pretend Dabo Swinney saying the word in an interview 99% of folks not from Clemson didn't even see is what started it.

It was common around here. In fact, look at this:

That's from the game that SENT US to the game against Clemson.

So much for blaming Dabo for this one.

@selmaborntidefan : Search?! You didn't type the URL's from memory?! 😲

BTW, is it just me or does the Smilies box not have an "X" to exit out of it (even though if you click where the "X" should be it closes out)?

Well just consider the fact I knew it was on here LONG before we lost to Dabo. And quite prominent.

I think I agree with you on the smilies - something something :)

Well the search feature is just a backup of his memory. For plausible deniability reasons and such.

Some say “ship” and I don’t like that either. To me it’s all from texting/online sub language that’s just seeped into the mainstream lexicon

Hmmm. Hadn't heard that one.

If Mike Leach ever catches lightning in a bottle, I'm sure that one will catch a lot of play... :cool:

I think Dabo just makes the word worse for most because he openly said it. But I think one of the semi final winner shirts had "Natty Bound" on one of them as well.
