Question: Which Alabama game that you attended is your Favorite experience?

A-day 2007 was pretty amazing. It was an amazing site to watch the stadium slowly fill and fill and fill to capacity. I have a hard time picking a favorite because so many have been so good, but that ones top 3 for me because it was simply amazing.

The most memorable regular season BD game would be FL 2005.

Although a loss, the OU game in Norman was a phenomenal game and atmosphere. I was very proud of the way the Tide nation represented on the field, in the stands and in the RV parking lot that day.

UGA 1994 was the most amazing divine game I've ever been to.

2009 SECCG was the best (most fun) game I've been to. Everything just fell into place and UF's dynasty died that night.

Georgia game 1994. Crowd became absolutely electric as Jay Barker just willed the team to victory. I can remember having my headphone radio on at the game, and hearing Eli give the final stats as we walked out of the stadium.....396 passing yards for Barker, who had never even had a 300 yd. game to that point. Seeing the stunned look of disgust on the barking, arrogant, UGA fans was just priceless.

On a personal note, it was also the first time my mother was able to attend a game without my father, who had been killed in a car accident a year and a half earlier. She was very emotional about going back to games again, as it was something that she and my dad really loved doing together. Will never forget it, and we talk about it from time to time.

This is mine as well. My brother and I made a last-minute decision late Friday to drive from Columbia to T-Town... we made the drive in 5 hours and 30 minutes. Best decision of my life. I've never seen a game like that where the crowd (and the qb) seemed to will the team to victory. Crowd was so loud you literally could not hear what the person next to you was saying, and that is not an exaggeration. Was simply a fantastic experience.

For the ones I actually attended:

1973 Virginia Tech -- Historic only in the sense of total domination. We won 77 - 6. Yes, 77 points. Set some NCAA rushing records at the time. First string played 15 minutes. We were ahead 42 - 0 midway through the second quarter. Played over 100 players (you could dress however many you wanted for non-conference games back then). We were trying not to score, and short of falling down, found that impossible.

1981 Auburn. In Legion Field in the 50 / 50 days. Alabama student section sings Old MacDonald over the Auburn band's rendition of their alma mater. Coach wins 315. Jesse Bendross and Linnie Patrick show why they were recruited.

1985 Auburn. We all remember it for Van Tiffin's kick. But that whole fourth quarter was one for the ages.

2005 Florida. Brodie goes wild, and St. Urban's self-proclaimed "infallible" system (his exact words) unmasked. Walking out of the stadium felt like the 70s again. At the time, we didn't know the extent of Prothro's injury.

2010 BCS Championship Game (the last game of the 2009 season) -- Early January, mid 70s with no humidity, crystal clear day, beer in hand with Mrs. Basket Case and close friends, listening to the Goo Goo Dolls live in the afternoon, and humbling an arrogant whining group in the evening. I still get a flashback and smile when I hear "Iris."

As I went throught the memory banks to write this, what struck me was how many I watched on TV. In no particular order:
1979 Sugar Bowl after the 1978 season.
1993 Sugar Bowl after the 1992 season.
1992 SECCG.
1973 Tennessee game in Legion Field.
2009 SECCG -- yes, I could get tickets to the Rose Bowl, but not the SECCG.
1989 Ole Miss game.
1999 Florida game.
1999 SECCG rematch against Florida.
1991 Auburn game. Auburn can't stop a running back named Junior...(?). Can't remember his last name, but he shoved that ball down their throats the last 20 minutes of the game.
1989 LSU game. Alabama clenches the SEC title. Tommy Hodson is cussing teammates and coaches on the sideline and Lee Ozmint has one of the all time greatest Bama quotes after returning an intercepted 2-point conversion, "The first 50 yards, I was praying nobody would catch me. The last 50, I was praying somebody would."
1994 Georgia.

The 1989 game at Penn State when the lions marched 80 yards in the last minute to set up the game winning field goal on the one yard line. I sat in that north end zone that day and the crowd was going crazy as the teams set up for this chip shot. Except for me and the Alabama section over on the corner, the crowed was stunned after Thomas Rayam blocked the field goal to seal the win for Coach Curry and Alabama 17-16. Roll Tide!

This year's GA Southern will be. It will be the first game that I attend with my 5 year old triplets. I cannot wait to see their reaction to the Elephant Stomp and when the Tide takes the field. We are on the front row-not good for watching the game, but good for the boys to see warmups (close to restroom and concession, too).

You will remember it forever, I took my daughter on Holloween, October 31, 1987, to see Bama vs Miss St at legion field, she dressed as an alabama Cheerleader & we bought my son a # 26 Jersey Bobby Humphries, tough game but they pulled it out in the end, She is 25 now & attends as many games as she can with her husband, We gave them tickets to the Captial One Bowl down here for Christmas.

That was my freshman year at UA. I liked it being a night game, because having to get to Denny Stadium (as it was then) two hours or more before kickoff for a day game and feel the heat coming off the Astroturf was agonizing. If you remember that the stadium was only the lower bowl then (almost no shadows), you can see why I thought that if you stuck a giant handle at one end, you could call it "The Skillet."

I remember trying to figure out in the third quarter who was playing for us because many of the players weren't in the game program.

A few years later when I was in Law School, VT came back on the schedule (78?). A Tuscaloosa News reporter asked Coach Bryant about that 1973 game and got the answer that it was one of the worst nights in his life. No doubt shocked, he asked why. "I didn't know what to say to their coach after the game."

A law school classmate of mine from Cullman (now gone) attended Duke as an undergrad. He told me about that game that he was trying to get the game on the skip (since it was at night) off a Virginia station and finally got it in the second quarter just in time to hear a RB he'd never heard of score what they said was his third TD. His instant thought was, "God, how can we be getting beat so bad?" before they gave a score!

1992 SEC Championship Game - My Dad bought us tickets for my birthday. The atmosphere was incredible, and I thought the stadium was going to come down when Langham intercepted that pass. I'll never forget it as long as I live. A great moment between my Dad and me. (Being able to pay my parents back a little bit is one of the best things about being an adult. My Dad's birthday/Father's Day present this year is tickets to the Arkansas game.)

1999 versus Miss St. - The stadium was ROCKIN'. Best game experience of that my freshman year.

This year's GA Southern will be. It will be the first game that I attend with my 5 year old triplets.

I really appreciate all the very personal memories you all are sharing, I got one that some of you convinced me to bring out:

September 5, 1981 Bama ranked #4 Playing LSU at night in tiger Stadium, now you do remember back in the day that you would only see Bama on TV during the regular season 3 time one year and 2 the next. So this one was on TV Right. Well I got Married that night, I tried to postpone it but took a lot of grief so I was allowed to wear an ear piece to a transistor radio & listen to Charley Thorton & Doug Latham, at the reception.
I know, i know, I'm sorry but, please understand my wife is a big Tide fan too.

Anyway they made me a grooms cake, in the shape & color of a football field, with a groom on top running for the goal post & the bride holding his coat tail, if i get brave, may post that picture one day.

Bama won 24-7
So the Honeymoon was Great, We stayed at the A frame Chalets on top Cheaha Mountian.

The Kent State Game we are going to is like a cool Anniversay.

There is something special about being near defeat in an opponent's stadium at the end of the game, and snatching victory away from them. Penn State's crowd got louder and louder on that last drive and then went silent in a heartbeat when Rayam blocked the FG attempt. It was eerie.

A similar thing happened the next year at Knoxville when the blocked TN FG rolled so far back downfield it set up Bama's winning FG. The silent steaming spray of 80,000+ chaws of tobacco was left hanging in the air.

Bama-Clemson in the Georgia Dome. I despise Clemson on a level none of you will ever understand. Personally, I'd like to burn the entire city down and make bricks with it. Short of that, it was highly enjoyable watching Bama beat the tar out of them.

Here is mine
Nov. 26, 1992: Antonio Langham was the hero in this game as he picked off a Stan White pass in the third quarter and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown that broke open a scoreless tie. Bama prevailed, 17-0. Alabama went on to win the SEC Championship Game over Florida and defeated Miami in the Sugar Bowl for the national championship.

Cold Thanksgiving day, drove all night thru heavy rain, then coach Dye announced he was leaving that morning

That game was awesome, and I still remember that a stupid redneck drove by as we were leaving and said, "Congratulations. I hope y'all beat Florida next week." I said, "Hey, thanks, I'm sure we'll give it our best." Of course, he then responded with, "I want y'all to beat Florida so Miami can whip y'alls rear." You can imagine that he didn't really say rear, and you can imagine that I remember that morons face to this day. I wished so badly after our 34-13 whipping of Miami that I could have found that guy.

Anyway, my favorite memory is the Iron Bowl from 1990. I transferred to Bama in January of 1990 and had never attended an Iron Bowl. My first fall was Gene Stallings's first year with the Tide. We started 0-3 that year as CGS quickly scrapped the high powered offense of the previous year and started building the Tide back as a defensive monster. Auburn had beaten us for a few years in a row, I think it was three in a row at that point, but Bama would not be denied on that day. I still remember the stadium vibrating as one side of the crowd yelled "ALA" while the other side finished with "BAMA". It gave me chills. It was truly spectacular.

2005 win over Florida in Tuscaloosa - probably the most fun I ever had until Prothro got hurt

so true! I was in sixth grade and my dad's friend hated Jay Barker, and I was in love with him. My dad had rented a bus for us all to make the drive from Birmingham to T-Town cause it was his fortieth birthday. The whole way down this guy ranted and raved about pulling Jay Barker and how we were gonna lose, blah, blah, blah ( he was definitely one of those fans.) It made him doing well that much better! What a magnificent night!

And ( I am not sure if this counts, but it was an awesome game day memory) in 2005 None of my friends were students anymore and I had two tickets, but I couldn't decide who to take, so I sold them to this couple who was there for their anniversary and bought a keg. We pulled the TV outside, pulled cars into the yard, that we sat on around this huge screen and listened to Eli Gold, the stadium (the apartment complex was really close to BDS) and the Sounds of Alabama CD and we all got nice and schlitzed together. Other than losing Prothro (which was an agonizing moment) it was an awesome day! The cherry on top was getting to see all the Florida fans who had been so cocky walking out! HA! RTR!
