Which former Bama player do you wish had gone into coaching?

I'd agree with Roger Schultz. I can picture him with a big wad of chewing tobacco in his mouth and coaching O line somewhere.

Jarrett Johnson-I know he's still playing but he always played with alot of guts and emotion.

David Palmer
Tyrone Protho:wink:
Lee Roy Jordan
Bart Starr
Bart Starr was an assistant coach for the Packers for several years after retiring as an active player. He later became the head coach of the Packers (about 1975?) and held the position for about seven or eight seasons. He was not particularly successful as a head coach if memory serves although I can't recall his record and am too lazy to google it....

Hutson also coached for the Packers as an assistant to Curly Lambeau for several years after he retired as a player. I don't believe he ever served as a head coach though. Again, I'm too lazy to bother to research it, I just remember my parents discussing it when I was a kid. They'd both known him when they were in school at Alabama and kind of kept up with his career. :)

When I first read the thread, the name that came to mind was Tommy Wilcox.

I love the way he played the game,:BigA: :BigA: :BigA: :BigA:

I was thinking last night about what good could come out of all firing and hiring at bama. The only thing I could think of is future coaches. Some of the players that were coached by dubose, fran, price, and shula should have a better edge on coaching, than players from other schools. Does anyone else feel the same.

I'd have to agree w/ David Palmer but my all-time favorite would have to be my boy Jay Barker...it was so good to see him @ the half-time show during the SEC Championship Game...been wondering what he'd been yp to over the years. I really enjoyed his quarterbacking-style...me and my 14 y/o son always argue who was better-him or Brodie
