Which system for a newbie? PS2, Xbox?

Just played a video gaming system for the first time in over 10 years. My cousin has a Game Cube and NCAA 2005. During my days at the Capstone, we'd have Tecmo Bowl tournaments. I couldn't believe what I was seeing with these new graphics.

Anyway, I have decided to buy myself a video game system. My cousin told me to wait for PS3, but I don't think I can. I'm not wanting to spend that much money, and even though the PS2's might drop in price, I need some INSTANT gratification.

Besides NCAA, I'd probably pick up Madden, maybe some other sports games and a first person shooter or two.

Any notable differences between the systems that I should watch for?

The XBOX has the best graphics. You should go w/that, but make sure you definetely go with this year's madden and ncaa. Last year's games have SERIOUS slow down issues, the gameplay slows down.

I would definately wait till PS3 or Xbox 2. I know you're itching to play but you'll wish you would have waited if you go ahead and buy one now. Both of the new systems are supposed to blow the previous 2 away. So instead of spending $150 now save some extra and spend $300 or so in a few months.

I would wait till the new systems come out. Not to just get the new systems, but to go get a refurbished or used xbox. Eventhough the next gen systems are great, the game selection isn't that great to start. Also the xbox 360 is going to play dvd-hd in a year or so. The ones coming out in Nov. won't be able to play them. If you are going to by a next gen system you should be able to get the best for your money. Most of your games you get on xbox will transfer to the 360, and they will continue to make xbox games for about 2 years or so, and they are about $20 cheaper than next gen games.

Get an XBOX

Personally, I would wait a couple months and pick up an Xbox 360...but if you can't wait get an Xbox. It's geared more toward adults plus it has better graphics/morepower than the PS2 and the online capabilities are much better.
