Re: Who do we finish with?

Kouandjio -Yes
Crowell - Hopefully ;) Too close to call right now but I am optimistic.

Clowney - Hopefully ;) I still believe it could go either way between Bama and SC.
Brassell - Hopefully :) Too close to call right now but I am optimistic.
I removed one. Are the others about the same. Honestly, of the group Cyrus is the "must have." Bama has to have a true Left Tackle and he fits the bill big time!!!

Re: Who do we finish with?

I really hope we bring in another big blocking TE since we missed on Rome. Maybe we take Clear after all. Also, do we find another DB or does a WR commit switch to Defense. Can Collins play CB? Hart is so explosive on offense, would Saban even want to switch him to DB?

Right now we have 20 commits, 2 are potential JUCO, how many early enrollees were backcounted? Oh yeah 2 greyshirts should count toward this year to right? My point is that we have room to add about 5 more if needed right?

Can any mods answer this for me?

Who realistically can us Bama fans hope to see us close with in the final scolarship
slots left on signing day as of today and how many slots are left to give?

I mean since all the doom and gloom posts as of late Im trying to
seriously figure out who we're going to get because I really dont see how we're going to
strike out on any of these players considering this is Coach Saban and I dont see him placing all of his eggs in one basket like Shula did with Tebow and then not have any
back up plan for individual position players at all. theres just no way the greatest field coach and recruiting coach in the nation at the best football school in America with everything we've got is going to lose out on all these players. Otherwise CNS wouldnt be staying on top of these guys till the bitter end this far. I believe he knows what hes doing because hes the best but Id like a better opinion from one of the mods with the inside scoup to tell me who realistically out backup plans are for a DE pass rusher, a high school all-american WR,an OL who can immediately step in and a running back who can contribute asap.

What is the master plan from what youve heard inside and what is the up to the minute list of these guys mods?

You know sometimes it just doesn't happen...no one can expect us to get anyone we want just because we're Bama. I'm sure we have back up plans but the amazing think about signing day is all these questions will be answered and some will be shocked over what happens.

I'm just guessing, but I'm not sure if there really is a backup plan, and while we have a ton of chicken littles on the board who think losing MM has cast us down into the depths of recruiting, I'd say the staff is probably very pleased with who they have on board now. Do you take a DE just to take one, cause you miss on another or the same with a tackle?

The way I see it three of the most ready for action players in this class are on campus going to class right now.

I think we may get Cyrus, miss on Clowney and Crowell. Then we possibly extend the commitable offer to Allen and shut it down, unless someone comes out of nowhere.

Everyone needs to realize yes, winning the MNC helps in recruiting, it also means you're going to miss on some "must have" high profile guys, and in recruiting coming in second sucks. Its the way it goes and we are likely in for a very boring signing day, but we will be bringing in a ton of talent.

well I do too, I just dont see him switching at this point. If I had it my way I'd push for O'Leary as well, but it already looks like Im wrong since the staff seems to be going after Floyd Raven, CB from La. sounds like the call was made to him tonight.

Well here is my update after Mitchell went with UGA.

Kouandjio -Yes
Crowell - Hopefully Too close to call right now but I am very optimistic.
Clowney - Hopefully I still believe it could go either way between Bama and SC.
Brassell - Hopefully If Bama gets an official visit they may get into the mix but right now I am not that optimistic.

I think Bama will also get a top CB. Right now it looks like that may be Raven, but I will have to see how that plays out in the next few days.

Nobody know exactly what is going to happen unless they are seriously psychic. I gave my best guess at the finish in the post just above this one.

Greg McElroy was Shula's back up plan for Tebow.

My predictions:
Cyrus-the urge to play with his brother will be too much and he loves it here
Clowney- Could go either way but if he decides to make a business decision, he most likely will be ours
Raven-if we truly offered then he is ours
Brassel- If we get him in for a visit he is ours
Unfortunately:
Crowell: With the trio of Rome and Mitchell committing to UGA today, I think the Dream Team will be too hard to pass up for him

How do you know were not? Sometimes kids just don't like Bama. I know it's hard for us here to comprehend but it does happen.
This 'warning message' (bolded above) should be placed on every recruiting thread. I couldn't agree w/ you more. There are tons of reasons a recruit may not choose us, but in the end, they might just like another place more.

For instance, if a poll was taken and an NFL player had the choice between the Patriots w/ Belecik (i know the spelling sucks) or Rex Ryan w/ the Jets... I'd imagine it would be a pretty good split. Different personalities match different people.

Just a thought with some of these guys. They might not like Saban's hard-nose approach. I wonder if that's why some like the Luper/Trooper show at Auburn and Richt at UGA. Think about it, it's a totally different environment. Some kids have no desire to push themselves like Saban will push them. I find it hard to believe anyone from the "what are you going to do for ME, it's all about ME" camp would have any desire to play for Saban. Richt is so desperate he'll take any attitude as long as there is talent with it. Just look at their arrest records through the past few years. And I won't even go into the towel-waiving Trooper and the slick talking Luper. Saban is night and day to both of those "shows".

I think this is at the heart of many decisions. Some young men view Saban's program as a challenge, some are looking for the rock star treatment. Saban's not JUST a great recruiter, he takes who ever he signs and makes them winners. Thats his secret to success.

Well said ... this ^^^ along with a bona fide competition to earn playing time against those who might be more determined is not for everyone. Those who do commit, compete and stick with it are the ones that you want on your team and on the field. As long as Bama continues to have top recruiting classes filled with those who understand the process and who want to be at Bama, it will continue to be competeing for championships for a long time.

So goes the world of Bama recruiting my friend. ;) Seriously, you're right tho. We do have a heck of a class and will continue to reload instead of retool like some of our SEC counterparts. Bama's in the ideal place as a program right now to win championships for years to come. Guys just have to work hard to make that happen on and off the field.

With all that said, CK will cap of a great class with one maybe two more additions. I would love for us to get Clowney, I can tell he and his family loves the program but as many have stated the in-state situation may be the option that wins out. BTW, we're number one in rankings on Rivals again. :biggrin2:
