Why I Remain Optimistic (and why you should too)...

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Are we optimistic yet?

4th team in SEC history to win 4 consecutive ranked games. Roll Tide.
Victory lap? Still doesn’t make up for the horrid showing against a pathetic FSU team. I still stand by what was said given the evidence presented by the coach at that time, 4-5 over the previous 9 FBS games. But, we are moving forward, not looking back.

A victory lap because people were worried we wouldn't make a bowl game and were calling for DeBoer to be fired.

DeBoer just broke history with a 19-3 record against ranked opponents and has taken us on a record breaking SEC run. I'm not saying we'll win the natty but if it isn't clear DeBoer is they guy then I don't what to tell you. That was the point of the post.

I’m more pleasantly surprised at Kane Womack and the defense. I’mma give credit where it’s due. Defense is playing much better than I thought. Glad I’ve turned out to be wrong after the fsu game
Statistically, in holding basically every team we’ve played well under their average, I am pleasantly surprised and impressed. In the moment any given game, my heart rate is still spiking when we give up multiple big plays every game and have to lean on the D to get a stop at the end to preserve the win, lol. But taking the emotion out of it the D has been pretty good so far. Minus FSU.

I'm a bit more positive about DeBoer now than I was starting the season but there's still much football left. At this point if Saban was still coaching he would not consider the season a success yet and I don't think DeBoer or the players do yet either, so I'm not . If we get by the potential trap game at South Carolina we could still lose to LSU, Oklahoma and Auburn voodoo to finish 8-4. If we finish better and make the playoff, great!. Then I'll most likely write off the failure of 2024 as being a QB issue rather than a coaching issue.

Give me Kane Womack over Pete Golding any day of the week. Golding’s still stinking it up at Ole Miss, especially with that 3 man rush. It’s been a disaster for them defensively, and he hasn’t shown he can adapt.

No kidding... We need to work hard on clamping down on the big plays, particularly on the ground, but we also need to realize that there aren't defenses out there that can shut down everything thrown at them. Under Saban we got sliced and diced in a number of games, particularly after the uber slice and dice in the 2018 title game.

The world has changed...

I am hopeful DeBoer will continue to win and unify the Tide fandom going forward. We are far better off that way and in addition to really coming in strong and using what we have this year, he can recruit well too. Going forward I feel that it will be the overall roster and how you build it that will mark the successful teams.

Perhaps a bigger problem with the Ole Miss defense is Kiffin's offense. They score so fast the defense doesn't get rest, like yesterday when UGA had 37+ minutes TOP to only 22+ for OM. Kiffin's offense ranks 120th in TOP.

It’s possible, but South Carolina is a complete mess. I saw a stat where they have only 12 touchdowns in 7 games.
I think we win comfortably, but we did lose to a now 3-4 hapless team and SC could set up as a trap team after we just survived the gauntlet and are heading into a bye before LSU. SC has historically been a bad program but I can tell you from personal experience growing up outside Columbia, Gamecock fans are as rabid as anyone and they get Williams-Bryce rocking, especially when they sense blood in the water. All depends on player leadership this week! But I feel good.

I mean maybe but they just came off of two back to back physical games themselves. Heck they got trounced 26-7 by Oklahoma at home. I am not saying it going to be a layup.
