Yes it has been said all along, actually within the last few days. And it looks like it is about to come to fruition.
I hope it works out like that. As long as we can get the 2 we need from those 3, I am extremely happy.Yes it has been said all along, actually within the last few days. And it looks like it is about to come to fruition.
A bit of paranoia out there on this one. Some even believe Coach Saban made sure they lost out on James Stone, sending him to his "buddy" Derek Dooley, and then made it "look like he stole" Shon Coleman, when it was "obvious" where he was headed all along. I mean, wow.the barners think CNS is after Coleman for payback for Craig Sanders switching from Bama to the barn!!:biggrin::biggrin:
simpletons they are...they truly believe that their world really matters..![]()
Coleman rethinking Auburn commitment? - MaxPreps News12:04 p.m. EST A source within the Olive Branch (Miss.) program confirmed yesterday that offensive lineman Shon Coleman is indeed wavering in his commitment to Auburn.
Coleman's recruitment has been unusual. At the start of the season, teammate and fellow lineman Damien Robinson received the bulk of the attention from colleges and the media. After a strong performance at the U.S. Army All-American game, Coleman's stock rose, and he's now one of the hottest recruits in the country.
Ole Miss is trying to sway him and convince him to stay local. If he defects, it would have a huge impact for both teams.
Currently, Auburn is in line for a top 10 recruiting class and could end up being ranked in the top 5. Losing Coleman would mean a certain drop for the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss has struggled, and desperately needs a big addition like Coleman.
Robinson is also uncommitted, but it doesn't appear his recruitment will influence Coleman's.
What the barners don't realize, or won't admit if they do, is that Coach Saban goes after the recruits he wants and thinks can contribute on a championship level..............Although he hates to lose a recruit he wants to a rival, he couldn't care less of what they think about it. If they get glee from getting a recruit he wants, more power to them, it doesn't bother him.If nothing else, all of the nutjobs over at ITAT are convinced that Saban has this one in the bag. Their line of thinking is that he wouldn't even publicly pursue Coleman like this and risk the possibility of getting publicly turned down... they think the only way he would ever do something like this is if he knows he has Coleman in his hip pocket.
I'll give them credit, that's a far more logical thought than most of the junk they come up with. On the other hand, though, I really don't think any of them know anything, so it's all just casual talk.
As I've said all along, I've long since thought Coleman is ours if we want him. We could have gotten him months ago had we chosen to do so (and I bet our staff probably wishes they had now). The Olive Branch coach always pushes his kids to Alabama, and I think we are the one Coleman has been waiting on. It's clear he doesn't feel overly constrained by his Auburn commitment, so I imagine we probably get him if we want him.
Very interesting read BB. Thanks for the low down.I had an interesting conversation with a high school football coach that has dealt with this coaching staff for several years now. Here is what he said in a nutshell about how Saban approaches these situations.
He said that he has heard that we are settling for Coleman and that is not the case at all. He also heard that Coleman was way further down our coach's Big Board and that several other OL prospects were ahead of them. He doesn't believe it. It is his belief that we held Coleman at bay because of Saban's integrity in the way he offers scholarships. He said one of our coaches told him before the season that we had 2 spots left for the OL. Arie and Stone were offered first and were told they were the guys and that if they felt good about coming to Alabama their spots would be held for them. Then in the fall, Coleman really begins to perform well and improve. Our coaches like him a lot and offer him a scholarship contingent on whether Arie and Stone accept our offers because they were promised this by Saban and that Saban is a man of his word. Coleman is disappointed but understands Saban's dilemna. He takes up Auburn on their offer. However, as soon as Stone said that UT leads he broke his end of the bargain with Saban and Saban immediately turned his attention to Coleman.
This particular coach feels that if they work this like they have in the past that Stone will be given an ultiimatum Wed night by Pendry and Sunseri. If he declines or acts hesitant Coleman will be given his spot and asked to commit to us on Thursday.
There's no doubt about that; Saban has essentially made him the focus of the entire week.I expect that we'll be putting the "full court press" on Mr. Coleman now that it seems likely that Stone is going to wind up in Knoxville. I guess we'll find out if he really wants to be at Bama.
