Would Coach Kines accept the Head Coach position?

From what i have read it seems that many of our problems, on and off the field are concentrated on the offensive side of the ball. Wouldnt it make sense to keep the defensive staff in place and elevate Kines to head coach. Then bring in an offensive guru and staff to shore up the offense? Would Kines, because of his loyalty to Shula, even consider accepting the position?

Is it my imagination that most of the post concerned with getting rid of CMS are started with those with less than 100 posts. Just seems that there are a lot of newbies of late? Maybe my old eyes are deceiving me.

Bout as old as it gets...;)

Anyways, I think I remember a quote where he said he never wanted to be a head coach again.

You could have 1 post and be the best poster on the entire internet. What's your point? Alot of people here bash people because of their post count...I guess some people are just happy complaining about anything

How long does it take for a member to be a "non-newbie"? 1 year? 100 post? Just because a dog does not bark don't mean he won't bite! As a matter of fact, there's a lot of barking dogs (100 post or more) on this board who don't have any bite (Non Qaulity Post). I've been on this board 14 months and only have 75 post, which in retrospect, some where not very good. I'm a firm believer of "quality" over "quantity" but even I can't resist the temptation to vent sometimes. This seems like a good place to do it. BTW, I enjoy reading your post Crimsongator!

I agree with these repsonses. I think you are seeing the "silent majority" at a point where we can no longer stand to be silent.

I've been on this board a LONG time, and in my worst times have probably visited no fewer than 10 times in a month. For most of these 6+ years, its a once-per-day ritual. It's just that I don't have a lot to say, and usually don't have time to jump into the middle of others day-to-day discussions.

At times like these, though, I've been on here trying to figure out if what I see in the program is accurate, and what those with any inside information might can tell me.

Yea, Post count dont me crap. I have been here at TideFans twice as long as you even though you have several more post than I do. I am one who reads this site and one other everyday. As you can tell I dont always post a reply to something even if I feel strongly one way or the other.

With me saying that, I will put my 2cents worth in. I also had mentioned to some friends about the possiblity of making Kines the head coach. It was a thought I also had EVEN THOUGH I believe Shula can lose the next three games (including a bowl if we go) and it will not matter. CMS will be back for at least one more year. Thats my thoughts on it.....

The point is not how good a poster someone is. The point is that when someone hasn't posted much, we don't know who they are and question their true allegiance to Bama. Any barn fan can register and start posting just to stir things up. If that bothers anyone, then just stick around and the more you post the more trustworthy your thoughts and opinions will be regarded. If all of your post have a negative or derogatory nature...then expect to get flamed every time and rightfully so.

Though I may be considered a newbie, I think Kines would work great as head coach. I am not sure if he would do it though. Shula deserves one more year, but Kines would be a great head coach IMO if they got an offensive guru to run the offense.

Newbie or not you're entitled to your opinion. I think there are two reasons most long time posters look at this thread and roll their eyes. (1) As was just pointed out, no one knows who a new poster is. And(2) Kines has already been a head coach and it was anything but impressive. In fact, he was promoted from DC to replace a fired HC in the SEC. Look up the University of Arkansas.

For what it is worth- i used to have more posts but when Tidefans changed over to a new system awhile back it set me back to zero. Anyway, I am a Class of '87 graduate of The University as is my wife. I went to school with Mike and had him in many classes at Bidgood. Last year he had a picture taken with my kids at a practice at SMU. I love the guy. I want him to succeed. My question is if the powers that be decide that a change is neccessary wouldn't it be logical to promote from within rather than start over. I just did not know if JK would even consider it because of his loyalty to Mike. If you need more credentials( Harrys, Gillettes,The Booth,) anyone that was there during that time will know these famous landmarks.

bamainbigd,
First I would just point out that we are not currently looking for a head coach. If we were, I would have to say that I can't think of a single instance where promoting from within has ever worked out well for any program.

Ever heard of Fat Phil?

While I agree that in most cases promoting from within does not work, i am taking into consideration our position right now. The impact of making a coaching change would impact recruiting as well. It seems if we could keep the defensive staff in place we could keep continuity on that side of the ball . I feel like CJK has done a good job of developing loyalty in the defensive players and have read comments by moderators supporting this. The thought of starting all over again is depressing.
