Would FSU without Travis had beaten Georgia last weekend?

That’s the ultimate question to determine who is in the CFP?

Finally, as the committee said, could FSU win the championship without Travis? The betting odds were 16 to 1. This would have been the biggest long shot on record.

With Georgia destroying TCU by almost 60 points in the championship last year, nobody would benefit from 2.0 of this. FSU fans, bless their hearts, but even the most vulgar knew deep in their hearts where this was headed.

Growing up 40 years ago, I was a FSU fan because i liked the team persona and war chant. But the team last week was a great defense and horrible offense and that is the bottom line.

After watching FSU in the last few weeks against North Alabama, Florida, & Louisville, there is a long list of teams that would curb-stomp FSU.

Michigan
Washington
Texas
Alabama
Georgia
Ohio State
Oregon
Penn State
Ole Miss

Mr. Czar, I like your post and was wondering, if I could borrow a phrase from a friend, if you also think these same teams would also be able to up their game and "curb-stomp while mudholing' FSU????

I'd add Missouri to that list. Probably Oklahoma too.

FSU without Travis is a mid tier SEC team. Great defense, limited offense. Once a team with an offensive pulse tires their D and likely gets a lead forcing them to throw.....it's over.

I live in the FL Panhandle 2 hrs west of Tallahassee. There is much gnashing of the teeth on Facebook and the bleachers of local events.

FL Senator Rick Scott sent the committee a sternly worded letter and state legislators are said to be exploring legal options 😂

FL’s other Senator, Marco Rubio graduates from UF, then U of Miami law school hasn’t said a peep I don’t believe. 😂😂😂😂

Perhaps an even simpler question to ask is: "If the #4 spot was down to FSU and Bama, which team would teams ranked 1-3 NOT want to play?"

I think that's even more applicable since they had Georgia at #6. And we already know the answer. When they showed the reaction of the Michigan watch party when they announced #4 there was a "groan."

Yeah, it’s bad down here, huh? And they can’t do anything about it. They can threaten legal action but that’s about it. FSU with Travis and that awful schedule wasn’t that great to begin with. When you ask for logic from most of them, you get pure insanity. That’s par for the course for the most part.

I'm not going to take away from FSU with Travis - they were good, and Travis was a top-flight QB, imo. Great receivers, good lines, excellent defense - until that injury FSU had a legitimate shot at a NC this season.

But the drop-off after his injury was so obviously bad it couldn't be ignored.

Do I think that with Travis FSU wins it all? I doubt it, but they'd definitely deserve to be in the CFP. They were a good team.

They were definitely one of the 133 best teams in D1…

The Mich watch party answered this definitively.

They went from excited to audibly groaning followed by deafening silence followed by a few scattered unenthusiastic claps.

It was AMAZING 😂
