nothing wrong with a young man wanting to stay home. however, if it is his desire to be recognized in the sec, it will be up to the new coach, and his recruiting to get it done. two young qbs coming in, but, not much else. he had a shot opposite julio, which means he would have a lot of opportunities because julio will have to be double teamed always. i really believe our losing the sec title, and bowl game, is causing some angst among remaining recruits.

Well, with Bumphis gone to MSU as expected, the spotlight is almost totally on Patrick Patterson now...and of course RR. I keep hearing from Ole Miss insiders that they are not worried about losing Patterson to Bama. Whenever Ole Miss is not concerned about losing a recruit that we are both going head to head over, I suspect something fishy is going on. I really hope this is not the case.

Yes but I truly hope we get Patterson and he can take on that role. I think he will be better there than Bumphis and much more durable.

:BigA: RTR!
Patterson and Bumphis are totally different receivers. Bumphis would have played the slot at Alabama. I don't think you are going to see Patterson play as a slot receiver. :)

Actually there has been some talk about just that. Whether or not he actually winds up as a slot receiver is another question entirely.

He was told he was being recruited for slot and outside receiver. I think with him on the field he is one of those players you can move around to take advantage of favorable matchups. Hope we get him.

I was hoping badly that we could somehow convince Bumphis to play in T-Town.

We desperately need a speed receiver with after the catch quickness and running ability, the guy who can catch the two yard turn in route and turn it into a 40 yard gain, and he would have been that guy.

Maybe Scott, Hanks, or Maze can step up but they haven't shown that ability yet.

I can't see Patterson in the slot. He's probably more physical than Julio.
That's not a knock on Julio who is incredibly physical, but I watched Patterson in the state championship game against a very good D'Iberville defense and he was literally a man amongst children. He's big, fast, and has a mean streak.

I still say however that Kendall Kelly, should we land him, will end up being our best catch(no pun intended). That is, unless we get Randle. But I'm not thinking that's going to happen.

Nothing shocking, but I hate we didn't get his athletic ability. He reminded me a lot of The Deuce. I think he'll realize that MSU's offense with Mullen calling the shots is not quite a FLA-caliber offense just yet.

I think it's very important for us to pick up Solomon Patton in 2010 since we were not able to get the smaller, quicker offensive playmaker in the slot in the 09 class.

I agree about Patton. And I fully expect him to be in Crimson in 2010.

I wish him the best but who is going to be throwing him the ball for the next 4 years? Still I hope he is successful except against us. He seems like a good kid.

We still need a slot. Or can Maze or B.J. Scott fill that void?:BigA::):BigA:

I would look for Maze and Hanks to get the first oppurtunity to lock down those positions. Scott will more than likely be in the secondary next year.

Oh well, best of luck to him except against us.

BAMA will have receivers all over the place next year...JJ, Maze, Hanks, McCoy, Smelley, Dial, add Norwood & Bowman, and hopefully KK, PP...

If we can gel the O-line and get a QB who can go through his reads he will have a plethora of capable receivers to choose from. It should be a nice change from the recent years.
