No, Alabama isn't exactly just a hop, skip and jump away, but the Crimson Tide may be more of a contender for the nation's No. 1 receiver prospect than some might think.

Dorial Green-Beckham (Springfield, Mo./Hillcrest) is ESPN's No. 3 prospect overall and the most coveted pass-catching prize in the country, and while the Julio Jones-like stud is staying mum on his final five, it appears the Tide is in that lucky group.

Re: WR Dorial Green-Beckham Update

AU article does not have UA in his top five but AU. The quote was from his dad saying his final five were OU, Mizz, Ark, Texas, and AU. Set up an OV for the Iron Bowl and and OV with Texas.

There are conflicting reports on Green-Beckham's top five. Some say that Bama is included, and others say they are not. The latest report on 247 Sports report says Bama is not in it. I am going to keep him in the prospect list until the situation is clarified one way or the other. The latest reports about Green-Beckham and Bama are creating a lot of doubt in my mind.

His recruitment reminds me of Julio in the sense that he never says anything but other people like to say this school is in and this school isn't. we are still in this and 24/7 while a great site is lacking on somethings. Just like Hamilton the 5 star player has us firmly in the mix they don't even have us mentioned. Also two other sites contradict what they say including an interview done by scout with dbg present. His adoptive dad says before the sentence he thinks that's his list well does he know or playing with the media ?

The yards on the play pushed Green-Beckham passed Abram Booty, who had 5,867 yards for Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, La., in 1993-96.

By game's end, Green-Beckham had 11 catches for 305 yards and four touchdowns to push his career total to a new record 6,111 receiving yards.

"I'm really excited to have this record in my name for however many years," he said. "This is one of the most exciting things that's ever happened to me."

Nov 25 visit to the barn....At least he will get to see real football and a beat down by the Tide at the ugliest little trailer park on the plains.

There are still conflicting reports out there but if Green-Beckham has set up an official visit to the barn that will not be good for Bama. I think it is down to Bama and AU as far as which school gets an official visit and makes it into his top five. If Green-Beckham does visit the barn instead of Bama that will be some really bad recruiting news.

Unfortunately unless something changes soon and Green-Beckham decides to officially visit Bama he will be coming off the prospect board. Obviously with the conflicting reports of Green-Beckham's favorites, I am not nearly as optimistic about Bama's chances of signing Green-Beckham.

I am sure that Green-Beckham's father knows exactly what his son is doing as far as his recruitment goes. The father's recent quotes about his top five is real concerning. I am trying to find a specific quote either way from Green-Beckham.

In an interview after Green-Beckham's recent career record setting game on Rivals.com, He said that he has not set up any of his offical visits yet but that he plans to now that his season is over. He was quoted as saying, "There's not a lot of time left but I'm going to take my time and do it right." He said that he could wait until the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January to announce his decision.

If you watch the video when asked he also stated he has not set up any visits yet, unlike the article for AU that says he has setup visits for AU and Texas.

Again it does not matter because Ark might be the only school in the SEC that has a chance for him and him going there does not worry me. Sorry to our local Ark posters but even adding him will not bring the the West title home to Arkansas. Until Ark can recruit a OL and protect their QB a great WR will not even help them. No matter how the game finishes when Vandy's D can get through your line the way they have Ark's team and offense will always be suspect.

That and until they treat defense as more than an afterthought, I don't see them having a shot anytime soon. Bobby Petrino is a fine offensive mind but he has consistently given his defense short shrift. Not surprisingly, his defenses have been suspect since he's been at Arkansas.

Let's face it, some kids, especially many of these star wideouts, would rather go where they will regularly make the ESPN highlight reel and catch 80-100 balls/yr than where they would probably have a much better chance to earn a championship ring and be just one of 11 moving parts on the field.
