It seems as if a great deal of people on here don't understand this.
Basically, it was mentioned by CNS around this time last year, but Bama Nation has continued to use this idea as a rule that governs the recruitment of all Alabama football recruits, which is false.
Coaches like Bryant, and specifically Nick Saban, do a good job in sending messages to recruits and players through the media. He said this last year to warn a few recruits that were looking around that they may want to look really hard because he was too. While that was true, part of it was because he and the new staff were looking at new players to replace them, thus trying to help them out. While this is not always the case this is part of the reason it was said.
At the same time the the original meaning still is used, but to very few recruits. These recruits know their situation and Coach Saban tells them what can and will happen down the line after they commit. They understand the number crunching and alloted spots as well as the average internet goer. So when you see a Burton Scott or some other high profiled recruit taking visits...remember, he and Saban have either known this was going to happen and he will still have a spot...and the "you shop we shop" mentality may mean lots of things but is more of favorite internet saying than anything else.
