I was counting down the days until kickoff, and I was thinking about my first Bama game I ever attended. It was the 1992 Ole Miss game in BDS. I was only 7 years old but I still remember it like it was yesterday. David Palmer's amazing catch is etched in my memory and the whole experience is something I will never forget.

I still think that that game was the most fun I've had at a game.....well the UF and UT games this year maybe are tied.

Anyone care to share their first game memories?

After growing up a Bama fan from afar (CT), my first two games were especially memorable.

1985 - Alabama @ Georgia (Shula drives team to late winning TD)

1985 - The Iron Bowl won on "The Kick"

I was lucky enough to witness a few other classic nail-biters (Penn State blocked FG, Ohio State Kickoff Classic, Cotton Bowl), but those first two games had me hooked forever.

As the t-shirt states, "You had me at Roll Tide!"

My first game was Gene Stallings first win. Vandy game in 1990.
My wife had grown up a Bama fan and went with her parents to the game.
When her Dad died in the spring of 92, we took up the tradition, bringing her mother to all the games. We never stopped.

I guess I'm fairly fortunate as I've been a Bama fan for as long as I can remember and have attended Bama games on a regular basis since 1972 (I was 10 years old) and have actually been to Bama games when I was younger...maybe 1969 or so.

Even when my wife and I were living in South Florida (Boca Raton) and Dallas, Texas, we still attended games each year. I don't really care where I live, I'm going to be in BDS on saturdays in the fall when the Tide plays!

Since moving back home 3 years ago, we have only missed one game (last years Arkansas game) due to a family event my sister had. Unfortunately it was an event she couldn't control and that's why it was during football season.

I was in 3rd or 4th grade. We were living in Chattanooga at the time, and dad took the family to Nashville to see Bama play Vanderbilt.

As my mom explains it, I spent the entire trip to Nashville complaining about whay are we doing this and I don't want to be here. And then I spent the entire trip back asking when we'd be going to another game.

After that, every couple of years dad would take me to a game in Birmingham.

Alabama vs. Kentucky 10/4/80. Coach Bryant's 300th win. I was 10 and my uncle took my brother and I to the game. All I remember are the 300 signs that the students were all carrying and getting sick to my stomach when I walked through the tunnel and saw the field

My father took me to a game when I was one year old (1955). The first game I remember attending was a game against Tulane in Mobile either '63 or '64. My Mom is from Moible and we always went to Bama games there. Got to see some good games against So. Miss.

Like Pat, I can't remember my 1st (1970 - 4 yrs old). But, the 1st I remember was 1973 Alabama 42 vs UT 21(10/20/73) in Birmingham. Bama went on to finish 11 - 1, National Champions and SEC Champions. Now that was a game!:BigA:

Same game, but I was only 6. I remember asking my dad what the big deal with the number 300 was.

I feel like I got to see Curry coach the Tide...but the first game I remember is the 1990 game against Vandy in Tuscaloosa. I was 8 years old. I remember walking into Bryant-Denny and just having this amazing feeling come over me. It was like being scared and being at peace at the same time. Still get that feeling to this day. My dad has been a season ticket holder for decades...but since I was born and raised in Birmingham, most of my early childhood games were at Legion Field. I didn't really get to experience BDS on a regular basis until I hit high school...and of course college.

Not a bad start if you ask me. ;) My first Bama game was when I was 6 years old and it was Bama/Kentucky in 1989.

My first game was the UCLA game in 2001. I made the trip to Tuscaloosa for the Tennessee game in 2003, but I caught a hellacious fever and could barely walk, let alone go to the game.

I go back awhile......I was a freshman or Sorh. in HS in B'ham. I had a relative who was an assistant basketball coach at UGA in 62 or 63. He got me a sideline pass for the Ala/Ga game at Legion Field. They had folding chairs set up and people sat in them on each side of the players. It was unreal. First game and to be on the field.. Hooked forever........ RTR

BYU in '98. My future wife bought a ticket package to BYU, Ole Miss, So. Miss, and Fla. That sealed the deal for us. Brodie's bro-in-law started and the offense lined up with 5-wide on the first play. It was the hottest day of my life, but it was worth being a part of 83,000+ for my first Bama game. RTR!!!

1988 Vandy game at BDS. I was a freshman at the University and my parents came over from Atlanta to attend the game too. That day Bobby Humphrey and Gene Jelks both went down with season-ending injuries but Bama won! I remember when the Tide took the field I got a little choked up! Don't laugh...it was my first time to see the Crimson Tide in person and it was an experience I will never forget. Also met my future wife the very next day. All in all, not a bad weekend. Roll Tide!

I was 13 years old when I went to my first Alabama game. It was on 11-13-1982 against Southern Miss. USM beat a Coach Paul Bryant led team that day 38-29. Even though UA lost, I was thrilled at getting to go to BDS and having the opportunity to watch the Crimson Tide and Coach Bryant in person, which I had only seen on TV up until that point. I still have the ticket stub from that game. I did not know until years later the significance of the loss that day. It was 1 of only 2 losses at BDS in Coach Bryant's entire coaching career with both losses being "bookends" for a 57 game home winning streak.

My first was us vs Tulane, Ladd Stadium Mobile, 1961. It as close to a pre-Christian spiritual experience as I could have had as an early teenager. What a thrill to see one of the truly great Bama lights-out defenses skunk them . Sounds like nautical warfare, doesn't it? Wave-0, Tide-9.
