I thought the inauguration wasn't until Tuesday, but if you turn on any news channel you would think it was Today! Anyone else think this is a little too much??

Dang, it's 2009.

Well, considering its costing at least 3-4 times as much as Bush's did I hope it's getting early television coverage! Gotta get that money's worth! Besides, it's not every day we get to see the "chosen one", "hope", and "change, glorious change" in our fair nation.

Seriously, I'm making it a point to avoid any news channel, and after the championship games tomorrow I won't be turning on network TV. DVD's are going to be my outlet on the "boob tube" this upcoming week!

You haven't ordered your commemorative Obama Chia Pets?

I think you can get them on MSNBC, but you better hurry - price goes up on Wednesday.

Unbelievable.

The man's not even in office yet, but you're already on point with the snappy putdowns. :conf2:
I certainly won't be watching much TV the next week or two (Fox will probably have updates announcing that "Obama has just gone to the bathroom" or "Obama just blown his nose. Analysis after these commercial messages...")
That said, the guy is entitled to a bit of a victory lap. He ran a good disciplined campaign, and his reward is he gets a very difficult job.

He has never said that he would turn down Federal hand-outs.

I have seen his ilk in my own business, and I can tell you that the tell-tale signs are there. The lust for power, the pride in big government.

He's a Marxist. Care to rebut that? Show me how he isn't so?

Hmmm?

I fugure by the 31st of January I'll have a government check to pay off my house. :)

I'm seriously rooting for the guy. How sick is it to want a guy to fail when his failure negatively impacts yourself? :conf2: I do not agree with a lot of his thought processes or views but I hope with him actually getting into the office, seeing first hand what he has to deal with that he'll make the best decisions for the country.

Don't be surprised once he actually gets knee deep into the job that he changes his mind on some stances that he might of had during his campaign. Many times people from an "outsider's view" have one opinion and view point on an issue then once set right in the middle of it change their viewpoint. Because they now have access to information that they didn't when they had their original opinion.

But either way I hope he succeeds and makes the best decisions for our country. It's time to move past "democrat", "republican" crap. All that does is turn into a urinating contest with no productive thinking.

Personally, I couldn't care less about the inauguration, its all pretty silly. If he says anything significant I am sure I will hear about it later. I am however very interested in what he does after all the pomp is finished with.

What handouts are you referring to?

Care to make your description more general?

He's a Marxist. Care to rebut that? Show me how he isn't so?

Hmmm?
What definition of Marxist are you using? Hereabouts, the most common definition is "anyone who does not embrace the neocon vision".

Not to answer for the original poster, but I've always taken it to mean an analysis of historical or contemporary trends that emphasizes class conflict or ownership of the means of production as analytical tools.
Alternatively, it could mean adhering to Marx's theories, articulated in the Manifesto or Das Kapital, as to the evolution of human society from a feudal one, through a captalist one to a socialist one, but, since 1989, not too many people really take the latter definition too seriously.

Completely agree BB. I didn't vote for the guy (not because he was black or Muslim, shocking as it may be to one "moderator"), but I wish him goodwill and all the best, at least for the country, in his term.

I didn't watch either Bush inauguration, I didn't watch Clinton's, and I don't plan to watch Obama's. Nothing against any of them....I'm just not interested.

The only part I want to watch is when he wiggles his nose and solves all the world's problems. Is that supposed to happen Tuesday? Or is he going to stretch it out a few weeks for added hype?

I 've never watched any of them but I woud never in a million years watch this one even if you offered to pay me. IMO, it's one of the saddest days in our nation's history. When it's all over (his 4 years), a lot of people that voted for him are going to feel pretty stupid. I can't recall a time I felt more depressed about our nation's future. I see REALLY bad times ahead for our country.

Well I don't know the mod you're referring to and don't want to know. But I do know there are some people that are simply about "Republican" or "Democrat", and if you don't vote "Republican" you're a free loading, socialist etc. If you don't vote "Democrat" your a bigot and a racist, no questions asked. This entire country has a lot to work on within our personal selves. There's a lot of hate in this country. And I mean true hate.

Thank you for your Marxist comment. So far I've been the only one to bring that to anyone's attention, and I've been the butt of sarcastic remarks from the libs on this board. I WILL NOT wish him success to bring Marxist principles to this country.

I agree with you. Are you ready for the bashing you're going to get from the libs on this board? (You MUST have a brave heart)!

I hear what you're saying.

We all know that through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, that each successive administration has said that somehow your community is gonna regenerate and it has not. And it's not surprising then you get bitter, you cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like you or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain your frustrations.
