I would pull for Auburn if they were playing say Satan's minions. Otherwise, I would rather see them lose every game from now until the earths ceases to exist.

I've only pulled for them once in my life, so none of the options in the poll fit me. It was this past season against LSU, but it was mostly due to me watching the game with a bunch of LSU folks.

I usually root for the war chickens when they aren't playing Bama. My yearly dream is that an undefeated Bama team totally demolish an undefeated aubie team on Bama's way to a National Championship.

Flame a way. I will pull for AU when they are playing outside of the Conference. I do have some friends who are AU fans that are a little more classy than the typical "Barner." I have dealt with the typical Barner before though. I usually just look at them and laugh. They get a puzzled look on their face, I continue to laugh. I reuse to be drug down to their level. Someday I would like to see Bama and AU face off against each other with both teams undefeated. yea...I know...If your gonna dream, dream big!!! And then Bama whip the living horse snot out of 'em.

Note 1. I have never ever uddered the words "Go Auburn or W.E."
2. I have never worn anything "Auburn." No Orange , Blue or white color combo.

Years ago, when Shug Jordan was at Auburn, I think there was a real respect between Alabama and Auburn. Maybe I am naive about that, since all the people in my extended family, if they cared at all about football, were Bama supporters. But Shug and Bear Bryant, both WWII veterans, respected each other, and this seems to have translated to the fans on both sides.

I have been told by a man who was a student government vice-president at Bama in the early sixties, that at that time Bear Bryant led a coterie of Bama student leaders, including him, to Auburn, and they discussed with a similar group from the Auburn student government how to promote good relations between the two schools.

What we see today is a different situation, in my opinion. Finebaum encourages the rivalry. Bobby Lowder has specifically stated that Birmingham used to be ruled by Bama and that Auburn has cut into that "rulership." He has rationalized that if it were not for Bear Bryant's tenure at Bama, Auburn would at least be "even" with Bama. Randy Kennedy, the sports editor of the Mobile Register, is a big Auburn (and Finebaum) supporter. This is a different "world" from the sixties, when Benny Marshall and the Birmingham News pulled for the guy who happened to be the leader -- and that was Bear Bryant and his Crimson Tide. I hasten to add that if you go through those old sportspages, you will also see a great deal of respect for Auburn football.

I used to take pride in the fact that as a born and bred Alabamian, I knew what winning football was like, whether it was at Tuscaloosa OR at Auburn. I noticed that at both schools they seemed to understand football better than, say, in Louisiana, where I spent many years. Now, I am not so sure that I have the same regard for Auburn that I used to have. Maybe it's because of the six straight Auburn wins -- or maybe it is that I don't think Auburn respects football tradition in this state quite the same way that I do.

Unless a boog win will specifically help Bama, I want them to lose - and to lose badly - in every sport, every game.

I really agree with this assessment. I know I'm younger, having only graduated from Alabama three years ago, but this is how my father and grandfather talk about decades past.

I'll root for Auburn when:

Pigs fly
Hell freezes over
The Pope becomes Jewish
Jimmy Hoffa is found alive
Elvis is back at Graceland
Cancer is cured
Tiger becomes a homeless person
The federal deficit is reduced to $1.00
I find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
Loch Ness and Big Foot are legally married

In my younger days, the days before computers and Tidefans, I used to pull for the awbies unless they were playing Bama or unless them winning would in some way hurt Bama. as I got to know a few awbie fans I realized that the awbie fans always wanted Bama to lose regardless of who they were playing so I had to rethink how I viewed awbern football teams and their fans. "HEY AWBERN, I WANT EVERYBODY TO BEAT THE HELL OUT OF YOU" especially BAMA.

Not under any circumstance. Especially after enduring 6 years of losing to The Cow College(thankfuly that has changed). I hope they lose every game and I watch most of their games just to pull against them. Same goes for UT.

Only when they played Tennessee, but really only the last four or five years Fulmer was coaching Tennessee.

I used to "root" for other SEC teams against out of conference teams, but for the last five or six years that has flip-flopped.
