Irena Sendler

Got this in an email from an 'outraged' person. The email is intended to trumpet the actions and heroics of this lady in WWII, and it expresses outrage that Al Gore won the Nobel over her.

Discuss, accuse, and banter inanely. ;)

Seriously, Irena Sendler is a true hero.

On the other hand, if Al Gore had not invented the internet, it would be much more difficult to get information on Ms. Sendler...

Apparently, nobody really knows whether she was nominated in 2007 (about 60 years too late) or not.
Gore got it and deserved it! Its time that the Limbaugh types moved on.:p

Since when is "being too late" an excuse for not giving an award? Gore doesn't deserve anything but contempt. And BTW, we "Limbaugh types" aren't going anywhere. :p  Also, didn't bamanut_aj ask for discussion, comments, etc.?

I am definitely not a Limbaugh type, but I do think that it is a joke that Gore won it. It is the Nobel PEACE Prize. [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Peace_Prize]Wikipedea[/ame] says

According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

Can you name anything that Gore did to reduce standing arms? What about the promotion of "peace congresses". If you want to give him a Nobel Prize, it should have been the one for science. At least it would have been the correct category.

Well, they had 60 chances before 2007 to nominate and give it to her. Yup, sure sounds like manufactured outrage to me.
Gore was a good pick and deserved it.
