Summer movie checklist

i would be many of those people that generally feel the more awards a movie gets, the more likely it is to suck.

my all time movie that sucked yet got every award known to mankind was crouching crap hidden feces.
i like to refer to it as the asian version of Zorro: The Gay Blade

I hate the exaggerated Qing Gong acrobatics of that genre.
If you like that sort of thing, then the rest of the movie is good enough not to spoil it.

Many people disagree, but the sad truth is the critics are right 99.9% of the time.

I would say when critics say a move is good, they are correct 90% of the time. When they say a movie is bad, they are wrong about half the time. Sometimes, the critics don't realize who is the intended audience. I saw Brothers Solomon a couple weeks ago (which was panned), and I liked it. Not the greatest comedy ever or anything, but it was pretty decent. People have different senses of humor.

I saw Dark Knight this past weekend, and I thought that it wasn't as good as the hype. Heath Ledger was just as excellent as everyone said, but I thought that the script was really tough to follow.

I can definitely agree with that. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed The Dark Knight, but it was a disappointment compared to Batman Begins. The difference between the two was TDK was a more exciting movie than BB was; however BB had a far better story, which was hard to beat to begin with.

The Hangover made me laugh out loud. You know, those deep hardcore belly laughs? Yeah, it's the first movie to do that to me that many times since the first time I saw Something About Mary in the theater.

Very well done. Pay attention to all the stuff in the suite. There's a hanging ottoman that just made me want to fall out of my seat laughing. And the chicken! It all just made me laugh out loud!

The Hangover was really one of the only movies that made me laugh the entire time. I loved it!

Knocked out several movies over the long weekend ......

Transformers was ok. It was popcorn fare - lots of special effects. Well, actually, it was only special effects. Minimal acting or plot. The ghetto-bots and all the 10-year old humor grew old quickly.

I went and saw Transformers also. I thought it was pretty good. Basically your summer blow'em up. I thought it flowed better than the first one. The first seemed like it was kind of out of order to me. The "ghetto-bots" got on my nerves as well.

Saw Ice Age 3 too. I think it was as good as the first one.

I also couldn't tell what was going on in the action sequences a lot of the time. It entertained me for 2 hours though. But yeah I agree it was just ok.

You know, the action scenes were a little jumbled. The bots have so many moving parts - and combined with all the unneccessary "jump cuts" with the camera angles - that it was hard to tell which bot was doing what.

Eh, Megan Fox is hot.

Besides the special effects Transformers was horrible. Oh yeah, and there is Megan Fox. She was worth the matinee price even though she doesn't act very well.

Acting - awful
Plot -- cheese ball at best
Action - good but not very realistic.

I just did not like it! I did like the first Transformers movie. The second was hard to follow, the acting and story line was disjointed, and if you are a pre-teen you might enjoy it like my daughter did.

i agree completely about transformers- terrible plot, terrible acting, but thoroughly entertaining. go in expecting nothing and you will walk pleased. i sorta enjoyed the ghetto-bots.

i also loved how they really wasted no time in writing in shia's broken hand into the plot. lol it was almost like they said "screw it..... just put a cast on it and keep going"
