Why did Dre Kilpatrick not get into the game?

Curious why Dre Kilpatrick did not make it into the game. I know he had a small injury in practice leading up to the first game, but didn't know it was serious to limit his playing time?

You don't play DB for Saban fresh out of high school, against the number seven team in the country. Not even if you are Ronnie Lott, or Dre Kirkpatrick.

I don't think he had time to learn the system adequately, especially missing a few practices with the injury.

I think corner is probably the hardest position to break the line up for Bama as a true frosh.

No, I was really looking forward to seeing him. If I were to make a list of true freshmen I expected to play against VaTech, it probably would have been Trent Richardson #1, Dre #2. I guess Rod Woodson surprised me.

I'm sure we'll see more Dre against FIU and North Texas. At least, I hope so.

Dre like almost all young guys will get his playing time this week and next against lesser teams! Coach Saban doesn't put young guys into the fire unless they've proven 100% that they can handle it right off the bat or unless he has no other options. This year isn't like last year and we have some depth and so the young guys will get their time this week and next and if they handle it well will get other opportunities against Arkansas too.

Really thought he was coming in after MJ blew that coverage or heck it might of been Barron because the coaches were in both of their ears after that play.... Either way I get the feeling with some big time passing teams coming we might just get our first sighting of Dre real soon like maybe this week-end.

Yeah I think we might get to see Dre, Trent Richardson and some of the other freshman if Alabama can get down to business and play well enough to allow these guys in during the 2nd half. They may want to rest MI some and if we can handle FIU early I think some of the freshman will see the field. All that being said we have to beat FIU first and we all remember how we came out flat against Tulane last season after the big win against Clemson. I think we learned from that last season but we'll just have to wait and see how things turn out. I really think we will see some of the freshman get some more time though.

No sure about "Kilpatrick", but I'm sure Dre Kirkpatrick will see time at DB very soon.

We're lucky to have such depth, that we don't have to rely on true freshmen right away.
