Should CUM be letting guys play while they are contagious? I'm no doctor, but from what I understand about the flu, you are still contagious if you are running a fever. If that is truly the case, then I believe that it was very irresponsible of them to let him play considering the outbreak of flu that has been going on everywhere.
 
How irresponsible is he? If one of his players dies from the flu symptoms after playing in a game, UF and Meyer are going to get their " " sued and rightly so. Now he is beginning to mouth off to the media (just like Kiffin) things that are kept as inside information. One of those "if you did it don't speak it" cause it sounds like you are doing whatever you (coach) need to do to win. However playing someone who has a 101 degree temp is more dangerous than a cortisone injection in a joint.:mad:
 
Could Kiffin not file a complaint with the league office about Myer exposing his team to the flu. I mean, yeah, you can get it anywhere, but when you are rolling around in a pile with infected people, it kinda drastically jumps your chances of catching it.
 
People play with the Flu all the time and they are lauded for their courage. Michael Jordan played during the NBA finals in 1997 and everyone thought it was superhero-like.
Tom Brady had the flu and a 103 temperature when he beat the Steelers in the AFC championship game in 2005. This kind of stuff happens all the time. I agree Urban can come off like a weasel, but don't let your hatred of him blind you. Bill Belichick lets Brady play with the flu and all is well. Urban lets his guys play with the flu and everyone is wondering why the SEC didn't step in. C'mon. . .

That being said he does seem to be throwing bits to the media as to why they didn't beat UT worse. He should let it go, they won, move on.

Also, the guys name is Meyer. He's won 2 national championships and is generally regarded as one of the top 5 head coaches in college football today. Is it really that hard to remember how to spell his name?

I thought of those two examples prior to posting, and I too was impressed at how they gutted it out. It's just that this flu bug is out of control right now, and to risk spreading it to yet another campus just seems irresponsible to me.

Okay, check your examples above........those played in the Pro leagues with the flu....not college. I'm sure that in the pros they have a say about calling themselves fit to play with the flu. In college it is the coach's responsibilty to monitor and protect the health of these "student" players. As a nurse, I can tell you that both strains of the flu are already showing signs of being much more contagious this year. Also, most people are contagious 24 hours before exhibiting any signs or symptoms, so it is spreading much faster.
