Link: Confirmed: Hightower gone for the year

DH cannot be replaced, but hopefully someone can step up and keep the train going without missing too much. Like most, I hate to see a young man's season end on what some call a "questionable play", but if DH attacks his injury through rehab, like he attacks his opponents on the field, then he be back, fearsome as ever in 2010.

With that said, I don't know if a lof people know this, but Saban and the coaching ranned through these kinds of scenerio's back in the fall practice, so that players will know what to do what will happen if so and so gets injured. And yes one of the scenerio's was "What happens in case of Hightower is lost to injured." I think those practices in the fall was the big reasons why Alabama keep dominating after Hightower was taken out of the game as they knew what to do.

I know in the game Reamer switch to the DH spot and Anders move to Reamer's outside spot, but am I the only one really hopes that both Anders and Reamers remain in their current spots, and hope a young man like Nico can step up and take DH spot?

Personally, I am right with you on NJ or Jerrell Harris (provided he gets eligible) being able to replace DH. However, while DH is tough to replace totally by one player, I think the silver lining in all this is that we have a LOT of options with a lot of talented players. IMO, here are the realistic options:

* Either JH or NJ step in a play... primarily running downs/maybe passing also
* Courney Upshaw getting the bulk of reps that DH got on passing downs
* Reamer slides over to the will, Anders to Sam, and Upshaw at Jack
* Move Jordan to the will and groom another backup at MLB

On the run, I think we're going to be more than just OK because we have such a deep, run-stuffing DL. The harder thing I believe we be to find a guy who is able to give us the versatility of DH on passing downs - he could play anything from DL to dropping into coverage. BTW, I think option 3 is probably the most likely of all - simply because I think it has the less overall dropoff (coupled w/ the fact that's what they went to Saturday).
