Tebow's Tears.........

That was not my intention. There are many people who have offered much and gave their lives who and have been on this forum and were/are Alabama all the way.

We are not Auburn. We are not Tennessee. We are Alabama. My point, perhaps phrased poorly, is simple. Take no pleasure in the misery of others.

I take great pleasure in seeing Auburn having a miserable day. I took great pleasure in seeing Fullmer fired. I took great pleasure watching Texas struggle last night and I took some pleasure in seeing tears flow down Tebow's cheeks because Alabama not Florida was victorious. Yea Alabama!

I have no problem with Tebow crying, he is a very passionate individual and wants to win. While we can be happy that he is the one crying and we are not, he should not be reviled for that. He is a classy guy and a great person. But, we can celebrate that florida is shedding tears this year and we are victorious!

So did I, and so did everyone else watching the game. You know good and well that's not the kind of sentiment we are talking about here. We are talking about people who revel in the pain of another, not out of love for their own team, but hatred of another person. You tell me what word to use for that other than "Auburn Tiger," and that's what I will refer to them as from now on. Other posters are right, this thread should be locked and the key thrown away. I don't want rival posters and some of the classy gator fans we have had on in recent days thinking this is representative of our fan base.

We try to keep a balance where everyone can have their say not just say what others want them to say. As long as everyone stays inside the rules of this message board none of the moderators will have a problem with it. We always say its not what you say but how you say it. We won an emotional game let our fans show some emotion. After all the shots we have fired at opposing coaches, players and teams I'm sure Tim Tebow can handle a few shots. He has had four years of basking in the sun and bathing in glory and there were more than a few gleeful posts when Ole Miss beat Florida last year. Lets not continue to attack our own members.

Back to the topic at hand, I'm torn on this one...Part of me loved seeing Tebow cry, but at the same time, as a coach, I would die to have one player with his leadership and desire.

No one has run up and down the sideline doing the Gator Chomp better than he, no one has torn off their helmet, running and cheering, or mimic-ed cellphone usage (and no penalty) with more elegance and passion than he. No one has fired up and led their team as he, or been as good a person as he. We all are dim in the shadow of his perfection. You and I will never be as good a person as Tim Tebow.

I had empathy for Tebow, but that doesn't negate the fact that I've got a problem with crying like a schoolgirl after losing a football game...a pathetic display from a grown man...one of the toughest men his state, his nation, perhaps the entire world, has ever produced; arguably the best college football player ever and someone each of us would gladly walk with into a darkened alley.

If we lose in Pasadena, no crying! Take comfort in the fact that you gave 110%, gave it your best shot, and failed at that particular moment in time. I can't bear the thought of watching a member of the Alabama football team putting on such a pathetic display for the entire nation to see. Leave the crying to the schoolgirls when the cameras are on. If you must cry, do it in the locker room, or on your girlfriend's shoulder!

I personally loved seeing him cry. I don't like him. I know he is probably the best leader many may ever know, and a great athlete. But if people who have never met him can love him dearly, I can do the opposite.

It's just indicative of the brutal, duplicitous nature of the media. They have exploited Tebow for rankings for four years. They built him up to be far greater than he is, and the moment he does something embarrassing (like openly crying over losing a game...sorry, but I still believe men should cry in private...I'm old-fashioned that way), they exploit that too.

The media doesn't give a rip about Tim Tebow other than what talking about him can give them....rankings = money.

They should've had the class to not show him on the sidelines crying. Him being emotional during his on-field post-game interview couldn't be avoided, but they didn't need to show the close-ups of him on the sidelines.

All that being said, I'm glad Alabama played a part in humbling him some. Tebow is a fine young man with a bright future ahead of him, but he needed a strong dose of football reality and I'm glad Bama did it.

It is a game of emotions. While I will say I would rather see a football player walk over to the opposing team, shake their hands, congratulate them on their win, and go on to your locker room. There in your own privacy let the tears flow. Let them flow with your teamates, if necessary. I don't post on here very often, but I do read alot of comments in the threads on Tidefans. When they showed Tebow crying on the sidelines, a small part of me was proud. Not so much for the cameras showing that, but for the fact that the mighty Florida Gators and their media-hyped superstar, Tim Tebow, had been humbled by Alabama. Eventually something like this was going to happen to Florida, and it finally did.

Real competitors show their emotions. There is no shame in this. We won the SEC Championship. Does even this have to be about Tebow?

I agree, although I really don't consider my enjoyment of this win to be sick & twisted in any way.

I'm not going to bash Tebow for crying. He's a passionate guy, thats seemingly just as passionate about his faith and life as well as the game of football, which is a trait I just happen to admire; But that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy watching a team that I love in the Crimson Tide, thoroughly dismantle another team who's leader is considered by many, the best to ever play the game, and doing it as a team, not by placing one player above another. :BigA:

I have a feeling that a lot will be made of the "Tebow wept" moment in the coming days. I'll admit that I, too, felt a guilt satisfaction to see it.

The grin was wiped off my face by his classy comments in the interview immediately after the game. He had suffered the bitterest loss (perhaps) of his career and he could barely speak from the emotion, yet all he would say was what a classy program Alabama was and the respect he had for our team and our coach.

Well done, Mr. Tebow. You've represented your team, the SEC, and college football at large well. Best of luck to you.

My thoughts exactly......... I was laughing at first then I thought of back to my days of playing and the emotion I had in big games. I felt like a horses behind after I thought about it and then to make it worse tebow gets on there and praises BAMA for class... Talk about feeling like an idiot.........

No matter what happens my opinion has changed of Tebow it is not his fault the media has just drove him into a place where the Yankees and the Cowboys live (you hear so much about them you just start to hate them). CFB will be losing a true leader and one of the best to ever play the game.

One thing I did notice was Coach Saban was pretty misty eyed himself~!~
