In G Mac I really don't think he will be transferring to an option school anytime soon :) but he has shown the ability to take it and run when needed. My biggest knock on him is he MUST learn to slide and not take the hits he has taken, way to valuable for that in terms of leadership and just passing efficiency.
Greg's pocket prescence has gotten visibly better throughout the season. Most of us were aware that some of his early and even mid-season shortcomings had to come with experience. I agree wholeheartedly on the sliding business. I understand the fire in an athlete but he was taking head shots against North Texas and co. that were nuts. Does Coach chew him on those? Anybody know? If he were to go down I am not sure what Bama would do. I think at this point MI would just line up in the Wildcat and go from there. If we were in the lead that is.;)

Kindle plays all over. Muschamp moves him around a lot - and some of it I think Sergio does on his own. I've seen him line up inside on some downs. Obviously, the idea is to force the offense to find him and adjust. He's gotten a bit of flak from certain (ignorant) circles because he has only three sacks this year, but Muschamp's scheming with him has helped Sam Acho get 9 sacks, Lamarr Houston, 7 sacks (not bad for a DT), and Eddie Jones, 5.

It'll be interesting to see how our LB's hold up to the pounding. Texas has good depth in the DL and secondary, but we're a bit thin at LB. It didn't help that our returning Mike got hurt and missed the season. He's a big, downhill type who would've come in handy in Pasadena. But I'm sure Bama's had injuries, too.

Our second best LB, Dont'a Hightower, and he was only a shade below McClain, went out in the ARK game to a cut block (knee). A lot of us were afraid that our season went with him, but freshman Nico Johnson and some shifting around have kept the defense sound, if not quite as spectacular, as it would have been with DH on the squad...

Sounds like Kindle kind of plays almost like our Jack linebacker, Eryk Anders. He'll line up as RDE a lot, but he'll be in stand up techniques or move around to other gaps at times or even line up at the LDE position. No surprise there, Will Muschamp carries a lot of Saban's concepts with him in his philosophy.

I really do miss Hightower. I think this matchup is one where being able to put both Anders and Hightower at DE would help greatly. It would definitely solve the blitzing problem because the rabbit rusher line package would have done the trick (Anders-Washington-Dareus-Hightower).

Our LT Carpenter has struggled at times with fast undersized pass rushing DE's. He hasn't struggled whole games, just had some lapses here and there. Overall, he has played really well (he is a 2nd team All SEC player). It will be an interesting matchup to watch though.

Kindle basically does what he wants as far as lining up, especially on passing downs. He moves around and gets 1v1 matchups for the rest of the guys.
Expect him to play alot of DE on your "strong" running side. He is strong as an ox and is super under rated in his ability to hold the corner and force runs back inside. Against OkSt he had his way with their LT Russel Okung who is a pretty hyped prospect. I think they will use his strength to help slow your run, and let him lose on passing downs.
He is decent at coverage though, especially in a zone blitz type drop from the DE spot. Not alot of broken up passes but he either covers the man or tackles him within yards of the LOS. covering RB flares and such.

One thing to look for if you are interested in Kindle just as a fan of college ball, is he pursues plays like few do. He plays sideline to sideline going balls to the wall, gets caught over pursuing sometimes, but makes up for it on other plays.

If sergio can get him on his heels by using his speed a few times, watch out for his bull rush. When he times it right, its just funny to watch.
( I know this is Texas Tech, but just watch lol)
@ 2:00 watch him vs the RT

Part of it is that he's playing "dinged" like a lot of the guys at this point in the season. The layoff will really help with this lingering injuries...

Will you fall into deep depression, if all these fantasies don't come through? Somehow, I have this vision of your bouncing up and down in your chair as you post... :D

I do have a bouncy chair for a reason haha
Stayed up way too late last night thinking about this game and the matchups rather than studying for my final.
that site has way too many texas vids with lots of defense, I'm addicted. It took me 10 seconds to find that clip within an 8 minute video...I've seen it a few times lol
If I'm right about just one of the things I've predicted/hoped for, I'll be happy

You might take a break and look at the SECCG - HERE. Remember that this game was against the #1 team and the #1 defense, at that time. If you watch all of it, you may begin to understand the thinking of the pundits...

You know cav4mav, I hope you're one of those guys that still comes around from time to time after the game - win or lose.

Of course we can throw it - our QB is from Texas - where all the good players come from! -lol

Here's a stat both sides can take pride in. States who produced the most players taken in the 2009 NFL draft:

Texas - 36
Calif - 32
Florida - 18
Ohio - 16
Georgia - 13
Alabama - 12
Louisiana - 12

Texans can brag about having the most on the list, but given the disparity in population Alabama can shout scoreboard on a per capita basis.

It's interesting to note that four of the above states border on the Gulf of Mexico, as would Georgia if it annexed Panama City. Also, regardless of who wins the game next month, on Jan. 8th, six of the last seven BCS champions will have come from states bordering on the G of M.
