Not surprised at all...if anything its clear U$C got turned down a few times and settled for Kiffin. I figure he was burning up the cell towers calling U$C expressing interest from moment Carroll left, if not before. Its already been reported Riley and Del Rio turned it down. Of course Del Rio says that about every coaching job opening on the planet earth.
Kiffin is a west coast type guy, and I always thought he was an odd fit at UT, not to mention they could have done better than Kiffin to begin with, after they fired Fulmer.
Of course, I'm glad they didn't. Kiffin is an idiot, he was then, he is now.
But I'm in no way surprised by this.
