i think coleman switches to bama and KA stays with bama especially after hearing that bo davis meeting went great with the allens. I want allen here as much as the next person but if he plays at clemson and only he will play not his brother go for it next years class will be the best we have had.

I just heard we took a commit from Arie K - anyone else hear this?
I hope it's true, but there is no independent confirmation right now. He'll announce on Signing Day, I'm sure.

I do imagine, however, that our staff will find out sometime beforehand, and I suppose that could have happened. My point is just that we won't find out publicly until NSD.

One way or the other, I still feel highly confident on Arie.

Is it just me or have some of you been thinking of the potentially explosive domino effect that a Coleman defection could have to the barn? IF he does decommit and come to Ttown, you would have to think that some other players that they've recruited may start to have second thoughts--and if that happens, maybe Dyer starts wondering 'hey, who's left that's gonna be blocking for me?" That's why I think it's no wonder that the barners are real nervous right now. Their whole recruiting class, or a big part of it, could come down like a house of cards. And even if it doesn't happen that way, you can bet they are having to burn up valuable time and other resources reassuring other committments that everything is ok and nothing to worry about. Either way--I think it's a 'win-win' for us.

d35,

The Barn may not finish quite as well as they hoped. Coleman could switch to us and Reed did visit LSU. Hearing rumors that SOS hasn't recruited another RB, which makes me think he feels good about Lattimore. Lemonier is head to FSU with Smith, IMO.

I tend to think the Auburn recruiting class will largely fall apart.

Reed will probably stick, but Coleman looks to be gone, Lemonier will likely go to FSU, and I think Lattimore goes to South Carolina.

When you add all that in with a de-commitment from D.J. Howard mixed with some academic issues from some of their current commitments (Richardson, Carter, etc.) then this class doesn't look so hot. It's better than they have had in recent years -- assuming Newton is in fact a star -- but it's not a major upgrade by any stretch. It's still low on top-end talent and heavily reliant on JUCO signees, and that's never a good thing.

His jump from a 3* to a 5* happened after his performance at the Army AA game/weekend I believe. Apparently he excelled during the whole weekend.

I hope we land him - would make the barners cry.
It may have been the spread offense that caused him to have blocking problems. He may now realize that (after the AA game) and has decided he had rather play on a pro style offense and get better prepared for a shot at th next level.

The only knock I've ever heard in regards to Coleman was the fact that the staff thought he'd have trouble gaining the necessary weight, where has Stone and Arie were already capable of carrying it.

That's true... Coleman is VERY lean.. almost looks more like a basketball player. Didn't Taylor Pharr have trouble gaining weight too?

Vars, that sounds more like a description of how Damien Robinson's season went.

Coleman and Robinson's stock went in opposite directions.

I do agree that he isn't a 5 star, IMO, but he has a ton of potential.
I agree. If he's able to continue to get bigger the sky is the limit as far as his potential is concerned. I believe he makes the switch.

Aye - I saw one recruituru who said SC is currently an elite pass blocker at the D1 level, but needs 20lbs and two years of strength training to be a great run blocker.

Pretty much what you're looking for in a LT recruit.

What was the deal with DJ saying SC was "stubborn" while on his visit? The barners are of course claiming that meant he made us mad cause he wouldn't waiver on his commitment to them. I don't know what to think other than I would shotgun a keg if he dumped them this late in the game.

Just saw this quote from Neal McReady:

"If we were doing a prediction piece tonight, I'd predict Shon Coleman to Alabama, and my confidence level would be around 95 percent. He's in Miami, but in my opinion, he's only there to get the mileage money. It's over, per sources I trust."

McReady hates us doesn't he? That has to be a good sign

McCready is an idiot, but even he can piece together the puzzle on this one.

Bottom line, Coleman is coming to 'Bama. Barring some ungodly, incredibly unforeseen turn of events in the next couple of days -- which is in no way expected -- he will sign with Alabama on Wednesday. It's plain as day that we are the school that he really wanted to be at all along and now that he has a spot he is not going to let it go.

At this point, I feel more confident on Coleman than I feel on Arie, and frankly I've long since been very bullish on Arie and I am not changing that now.

I think they will both come.

Plug Ivory in at NG (I think he will RS) and Allen staying with his commitment and I would have no trouble Loving this recruiting season.

Come on Wednesday! This time of year always gets me edgy.
