I guess this is kind of a moot point since the rest of our games this season look to be on regular TV, but I am livid about the problems I had with Direct TV's PPV. Did anyone else have any of the problems I ran into?

It all started on Friday night. My neighbor suggested that I needed to go ahead and order the game on Friday because it would cost $5 more the day of the game. I went to channel 787 to order, but there was no option to "pre-order" the game. So I called Direct TV and was informed that they could go ahead and order it for me on Friday, but that it would cost me $5 more to have them assist me in placing the order. The rep said I could save the $5 by going to channel 787 30 minutes before game time and order it with my remote. I told him I would just order it with my remote on Saturday.

Saturday at 5:30 I go to 787 and there is no option to purchase the game PPV. So I call Direct TV again. Because it is almost game time I have to wait through 20 minutes of voice-jail-mail. When I finally get through, their customer service rep told me that I could not get the game PPV. She said the only way I could get the game was to purchase gameplan for $130/season or $25/one day. I told her I would take the one day package. She direct me to another channel where the Ole Miss vs Jacksonville State game was on. She assured me that the Alabama game would come on as soon as it was over.

Our game is about to start, as I have to sit through the two OT's of Ole Miss-Jax. When it finally ends, the screen just goes blank! No Bama game. I now have to call Direct TV for the third time. After a fifteen minute wait on hold, I get through to a rep that tells me that she is unable to help me, that I will need to speak with tech support. Five minutes later, tech support informs me that I can not get the game on gameplan because it is blacked out in Alabama. The ONLY way I can see it is to purchase it on PPV. I agree to the PPV, and finally the game comes on...with 4:57 left in the first quarter!

This morning I call Direct TV back to complain and find out that I not only have the gamplan charge on my bill, but the PPV charge, three $5 phone assistance charges, and a PPV boxing match that was never ordered!

While they finally did adjust my bill, I am so glad that the rest of this season is on regular TV.

I had very similar experience. About threw my phone through the TV. They've been doing this for years, you would think they would have the kinks worked out now!

heard the same thing from several people about not being able to see the game? and why in the world would you black out the game in alabama???? that makes no freakin' sense! i don't understand these companies sometimes:rolleye2:

Playing devils advocate with the first part of this post, but why should they? We keep buying from them. I'd guess that 1 out of every 10 customers they overcharge calls them out on their BS and when we do, all we get for all our hard work and effort is the correct bill. Most people who get overcharged don't go over their bill with a fine tooth comb. They just mail a check. It works out great for big corporations this way.

I've noticed on at least 1/4th my bills Comcast and/or AT&T pull these same shenanigans. I get charged all the time for ridiculous things. I take time out of my day to call and get it corrected, finally after 30 minutes of sorting through automated messages I talk to someone who fixes the bill. It's a ridiculous process, and it seems to be a losing battle.

My screen on channel 787 showed the game was blacked out in Ala but when I called them they said "no it wasn't" and that no information would show until 30 minutes before the game. I paid the $5 for assistance on Sat. morning because they told me on Fri that I had to wait until Sat to order it(they told me on Wed to wait until Fri). In all I made 4 phone calls over this one game. Shouldn't be that aggravating in my opinion. The game did pop on exactly on time but by then my nerves were shot.

As an aside we watched the game at a friends house. They ordered it PPV thru DirecTV and didn't get the right channel. They ordered the HD version but the SD version came thru. My friends wife was on the phone for 20 minutes before she finally got irritated and hung up. They also charged $5 assistance fee, even though no assistance was given. We never got the HD version. Seems like everyone had a problem. But what can be done? Next time there's a PPV game, you know we'll all be ordering it. A Bama game with headaches is better than no Bama game at all.
