I also remember the exact moment I snapped out of it and knew what had happened. I've had two, lesser, ones, since then, but I knew what had happened to me and what was going on. People who know you can tell...

Sometimes concussions are not that apparent.... Concussion and loss of memory are the more common symptoms they do not always appear. I under stand how he could have continued to play and not let on that he was having a head issue.
I had a concussion once during a game, albeit a very mild one, and no realized it until after the game was over. The middle lb picked up a fumble and was running it back, so I went in for the tackle. My fullback came in at the same time and I ended up bashing the guy's knee with the side of my head. I knocked the ball out though.
I think around 18 of the 22 guys on the field tried to jump on the ball, and Danny and I were at the bottom of the pile. I remember everything kind of going dark for a split second and feeling kind of weird. I didn't know what it was but having had a bigger concussion later on it was that feeling you get right after you've been knocked out. And then I felt a pain in my neck. I'm pretty sure I didn't get knocked out, just came close. Anyway, I got up slow and complained about my neck hurting, but it got better pretty quickly, so we figured it was a stinger. I played the rest of the game and no one noticed anything until after the game when I couldn't remember the combination to my locker and then couldn't find my car.I know concussions weren't quite as watched for back then as they are now, but it wasn't that long ago.
It's possible for people to not notice, especially if there's something else going on that could explain why you're acting a little differently. They just thought that my neck was hurting and I wasn't having a good game.It could have been the same sort of thing with Greg.

I knew something was badly wrong when everything turned a shade of green...and I'm not making that up. The next 20 hours are still a blur, but I was awake because the doctors wouldn't let me sleep for fear of complications. I still don't remember the 8 hours after the concussion happened clearly - just bits and pieces.
I saw some highlights of him while he was at Theodore...he is very quick, and always seems to be in the right place. Those are things you just can't coach. The fact he is picking up the defense so fast is astounding. You can look at his pic on rivals, and you just knew he would be special.
At least I think so...
