Can we get Trent off the kick returning team? Also what is he doing on kick coverage? He looked very tired toward the end of the sc game and seemed if he was easily arm tackled.

Guess they're just trying to get the best players on the field at all times. You know....Julio is on the punt coverage team too. I wasn't too keen on either one of them being our return men considering how valuable they are to our offense, but at the same time, field position and ball security are very important too. So if they give us the best chance move the ball away from the goal line, I'm all for it.

Trent has done a good job returning kicks until now, and I like seeing him return them to the 30 or 40 after fielding it in the end zone. SC had good kick coverage.

You put the ball in the playmakers hands. This is another way to put the ball in his hands and let him affect the game. While I agree, he did seem a bit hesitant running the kicks back, but I wonder if he wasn't waiting to see some blocks materialize, which never did. I've also noticed people have quit trying to tackle Trent high. Get the wheels locked up and he goes down just as easy as the next guy.

I really don't think our problems Saturday were due to Trent's dissatisfaction with how he is being used.

Amen.

It's amazing that we lose 1 game out of our last 20 and all of a sudden nobody knows what they are doing out there. If we win 95% of our games over the rest of my life I will die a very happy man.

This. I have even seen people criticizing Saban. Ok. Let's fire Saban and bring in someone who knows what they are doing. Obviously he isn't smart enough to put someone on the field who can return kicks.

I agree with you on that. We have to have the most schizophrenic fanbase in all of CFB, well, except for the barn, and lswhoo, oh and utk...

I feel like you should always put your best people back there to return and cover kicks. Richardson's kick return yardage counts just the same as the yardage he picks up on a carry. I want a guy like that who is going to bring out to the 30 or beyond returning our kickoffs. That's fewer first downs the offense is going to have to pick up against talented defenses.

I think he should keep returning kicks, but what is he doing on kickoff coverage? Kickoff coverage is a lot harder than returning a kicks, at least from my experience in high school. You've got to sprint down the field, avoiding would-be blockers, and then slow down enough to make a play and not get burned.

I agree with your characterization of our fan base, and it drives me crazy. It was 1 loss in the past 2yrs, it was going to happen at some point. If you told me that Bama would be 19 -1 every 20 games, I'd jump for joy .

Was it just me or did TR not look like he was 100% ? On returns he just didn't look like himself. He looked like he was playing with an injury.

I agree with you. Now the whole team looked like they weren't really there on Saturday, but on Trent's returns, something just didn't seem right. He didn't seem to be running with his usual gusto. Maybe he was hurt, or maybe it was just the general funk the whole team seemed to be in.

I am so tired of hearing "first loss in two years". Not true, fla then utah, undefeated season, loss to sc. One undefeated season. There is no shame, that is why it is a football season.

I was wondering the same thing. He was a LOT slower and more timid out there on Saturday...

He just didnt really seem "into" it. He wasnt playing with much emotion. He has got to be thinking He came to Bama to be on kick coverage???

he said in an interview last week that he will play wherever he can to get on the field, and that he loves kickoff coverage because he loves hitting people
