For Northwestern Wildcats-Illinois Illini game at Wrigley, offense will use one end zone - ESPN Chicago
This should be interesting.

Have you seen the endzone? The whole idea was dumb. The goal post barely fits on the boundary line of the endzone because of the bricks. That is really dumb. For real.
How? The article stats that when the ball changes sides the teams will swamp directions to make sure teams always are going towards the West endzone.Yeah, that's pretty bad. Ive been thinking though that the situation could be used to one's advantage. Seems like it would be wise to let the other team take first possession so you could choose the one good end zone to start the game. The other team's red zone offense would be severely limited early, hopefully enabling you to jump out to an early lead and force the other team to play from behind.
Hypothetical situation: Illinois driving into Northwestern's red zone. Illinois QB throws an interception which appears to be a "Pick 6" - does the intercepting DB have to reverse course when he gets to the 50 yard line and head back toward the other end zone??:biggrin:

Easily one of the worst ideas in recent football history. I heard NW's coach talking about how he'd have to change his game plan because of the short end zone. And this was before the one-way thing was announced.

so...before the forward pass? It's not the first college football game played at Wrigley. It's just the first in 72 years.
