Who stays and who goes?

I notice that someone mentioned Hanks earlier in the thread, he is a senior anyway. I think the majority of these guys may need to come out if that is on their minds right now. I try to look at this from the standpoint , if iwas in that situation how better will I really get as a player. Dareus is a talented player. Can he get better? Maybe maybe not. The truth is we don't know if guys will improve or not. If your heart tells you to pursue your dream go for it, because you never know how the cards will fall.

All the Bama players have big (?) by their names after this year.
#57 injured all year, nowhere near the player we saw in 09.
#22 (see #57)
#8 duriballity?
#30 injury, weight, speed?
#41 injury?
#4 MB is he really ready?
#4 MM ( see other #4)
#15 (see both #4s)

Call it a gut feeling, but I think Ingram will come back. He strikes me more as one to come back for another shot at a championship and to prove that he is better than what he showed this year.

As much as I would love Julio to stay, I think he'd be crazy to leave.

But who knows, we could end up having our best recruiting day ever when Julio and Ingram announce their intent to stay for their senior seasons.

Dareus, Julio and Ingram will go. All will be first rounders.

Before the season I thought Hightower and Barron would go, now I feel if they are well informed and smart they will return.

I think you pretty well nailed it. I see Julio and Mark as solid 1rst round picks. Dareus on the other hand may be a questionable 1rst round pick with his stats. Money is a big incentive to leave and if he sniffs a chance he will probably try it. I am afraid that whatever agent got him to go on his trip is probably in his ear to leave.

Hightower and Barron would be foolish to leave.

I thought Hanks was a Jr as well; Media Guide has him in the roster as a Sr but his player personnel says Jr. Had me all confussed.

He got a year back from NCAA earlier this summer or fall. Think it was a medical RS but don't quote me....

Should go:
Julio
Ingram

Should not go and would be a mistake if they do:
ANYONE on the defense. No one on that side of the ball had a year that would cause scouts to even round up a little spit, much less salivate. Dareus didn't play enough last year, Barron is far from an NFL safety and Hightower showed sparks but not a consistent fire. Any one of them would not go before the 4th or 5th rounds, at the soonest. One more year and they might all be 1st or 2nd rounders (barring any more injuries).

Who WILL go:
Julio, almost a given, but I think he'd almost wish he could stay but he will go first round
Ingram - I don't think even Mama can turn down the money he'll get, and he could be the first RB taken
Dareus - he ain't into coming back, would rather go to parties at South Beach (not a knock on him, just a fact) but he DOES potentially hurt himself by going; he won't go in the first round this year, or if he does it will be very low. Next year, injury-free, top ten lock.
Hightower - he doesn't want to risk further injury, he'll probably go
If anyone else goes (and I think it's a mistake if they do), they will be mid- to -late rounders. Would you invest a mil a year in Mark Barron as a safety right now? He hasn't made much progression from 2nd to 3rd year.

Even though Dareus and Hightower were barely noticeable on D this year they both still project as NFL players and I really think BOTH of them have played their last game at BDS.

Julio is probably definitely gone. I'd say 95% and the only reason I don't say 100% is because I believe he'd truly rather come back but it's in his best interest to go. He's NFL ready and will be a top 10 pick, top 20 for sure.

I would say Ingram is next on the likely list, probably at 90%. The injuries have held him back this year, but he'll be healthy in the spring when they do all the draft evaluations and he's a first round pick for sure. Likely the first RB taken.

Dareus is next at 85%, IMO. Yes, he's been "missing" this year but he's been double-teamed most of the time and he's battled injuries as well. He's got first round talent if healthy, probably top 10 if he does well at the combine.

As for guys like Hightower, Barron, and Upshaw, I think it's 50/50 and probably less that they leave. Hightower is still not healthy and he has some work to do to improve his stock. Barron as well. Upshaw would probably be a 2nd/3rd round pick and you are generally advised to play your senior year if that's the case.

And having said all of that, I honestly believe none of these guys are eager to leave. We as fans may sit here and think that, but I believe they geniunely love it at Alabama and would come back for sure were not it for the uncertainty of staying healthy while playing a violent game. It's always a risk, and some will decide to stay, some will decide to go. This season will no doubt sting for all of them, and it will cause them all to seriously consider redeeming themselves next year. In the end, I think Julio, Ingram and Dareus go pro, but only because their stock will be high and they've done all they can do at this level to improve it. It wouldn't shock me if any or all of them come back, but I expect them to go and I wish them all well. They deserve it.

Based on performance this year, Hightower and Barron might stay. But these are also two guys that could be combine monsters. With Hightower's knee injury, you might expect him to want to go ahead and try for the draft.

I would not be surprised at all to see Dareus leave, but I just don't see Hightower leaving coming off the knee surgery. He has too much to prove and was not impressive by any means this year. I would be very, very suprised to see Hightower leave now. JMHO. :)

My wife thinks that Ingram's mom will influence him to stay at Bama another season. I disagreed for all the reasons listed in other posts above, but my wife could be on to something. We know the influence Mark's mom had in his original commitment to Bama and Saban. We shall see.

Dang! How can we ever get back on top when these players keep leaving? I know I'm being biased, but it seems Alabama was one of the hardest hit with NFL early departures last year and is shaping up to be hit hard again.

I guess there is just nothing that can be done.

I dont think MI would return. If he did it would be the same 50/50 with TR again next year and that wouldnt be fair to either one of them. Sorry but those 2 guys can handle more than 15 carries a game and neither one could get in a groove this year. We will be better off with a 70/30 split like last year. MI at times looked very discouraged on the sidelines like their was nothing he could do to help his team win. I think he goes.

Julio is by far the most talented and would go inside the top 15 with Dareus. But JJ loves Bama more than any kid ever has and that is who i would put my money on returning. This year was great for him but if he came back for next year he will be the greatest ever at Bama in modern times. Heres to hoping.
