2011 WRs??

This thread is funny because it shows that quite a bit of posters on here have no idea who is on the team or who we've signed the past few classes... i dont have to name names its pretty obvious

so my question is why come on here and make yourself look like a bandwagon fan/troll that really doesn't know anything about what is supposed to be your favorite team?

It's one thing to wonder who will step up and be a playmaker seeing as we are LOADED with talent... it's a whole different thing to not even know who is on the team... that's as nice as i can be about it

Julio will be missed. He did so many things well and appeared so unselfish in his play. The thing I wonder about his somebody replacing his physical blocking on the corners. With that said, even with their size, hanks and maze have done a good job blocking as well which we leads me to believe the receiving corp in general is coached up well here.

No..that's a legit number. Coach Grant also wanted him on the basketball team. Saw him standing next to some of our o-linemen and he dwarfed them. I could try to find a pic, but I doubt if I'd be able to post it here.

Mackbama, is vogler really 6'.7" and change. Is that a media guide number or real? In bama's media guide I would be 6'4".

I remember Norwood making the TD catch against Penn State in that 5 wide set. Then he disappeared, along with the 5 wide set for the most part. Also, did anybody sort of wish McElroy had been allowed to throw another pass in the bowl game? He was 13 yards shy of being our first 3,000 yard passer!

I assume Norwood disappeared because of that little flip into the end zone he did after scoring. Saban has a saying that goes "Act like you been there before".

Not more than 4...but about 4..multiple times. But no need to hash that up. As my wife reminds me every time I bring it up, nobody cares about that stuff but me.:biggrin::biggrin:

More than 4 TDs in one game???:biggrin:

I really look for Norwood and Bell to break out next season - can't wait!

It's legit. I was hoping to find one of him with DJ to compare but could not.

Wow, could you possibly be any more rude? It's a football forum. I asked a football question. What else are forums for? If everyone knew everything we could abolish the forum.

Now, back to the WRs. It's really hard for me to judge just how good Maze and Hanks are because of all the attention Julio got. Were they able to do some things because there was less focus on them? Possibly. But Maze has also made some big TD grabs and nice plays after the catch. It'll be interesting to see how he does next year.

They're both reliable SEC starting quality wideouts with great hands.

I personally am excited to see what DeAndrew White can do. Everything that I have heard about him has been positive stuff, but because he redshirted we haven't seen any of it. A-Day can't come soon enough.

This. I was really impressed with him in the scrimmages last summer. Very fast and good hands.

Alabama will have a solid WR corps in 2011, with Maze and Hanks leading the way. I think the leading candidates to replace Julio, or take his spot rather, are Kevin Norwood, Brandon Gibson, and DeAndrew White. I would expect Marvin Shinn to gain lots of playing time as well. We might also see the TEs more involved in the passing game.

WRs:
Kenny Bell - 6'1" 180 - Rayville, Louisiana - Sophomore
Ronald Carswell - 6'0" 185 - Macon, Georgia - tFreshman
Mike Bowman - 6'4" 230 - Rossville, Georgia - Sophomore
Brandon Gibson - 6'1" 200 - Mobile, Ala. - Senior
Darius Hanks - 6'0" 190 - Norcross, Georgia - Senior
Keiwone Malone - 5'11" 180 - Memphis, Tenn. - rFreshman
Marquis Maze - 5'10" 185 - Birmingham, Ala. - Senior
Kevin Norwood - 6'2" 190 - D'Iberville, Miss. - Sophomore

Darryl Collins - 6'0" 190 - Gadsden, Ala. - tFreshman
Marvin Shinn - 6'3" 185 - Prichard, Ala. - tFreshman
Bradley Sylve - 5'11" 180 - Port Sulfur, Louisiana - tFreshman
Danny Woodson, Jr. - 6'2" 205 - Mobile, Ala. -tFreshman

Great scene from The Dirty Dozen: Donald Sutherland, playing "The General," is inspecting Robert Ryan's troops. "Your men are pretty, Colonel, very pretty. But can they fight?"

Same question applies here. Lots of talent. Lots of names. But so far, no one has proved a thing. Spring practice should start to show us what we've got. But Happy Valley will be the real test.

Yeah I can't wait to see him play..I think he's the fastest or right at the top WR we have..And is said to have great hands..It's scary at the amount of talent we have..

Dude seriously... third team and you are talking smack?Im thinking that just maybe some people have families, jobs, and other things in life that dont let them be the Bama know-it-all that Im sure we all wish we could be.Im thinking let it go because there isnt one person on here that knows everything and that doesnt make mistakes. This isnt al.com.

A lot of potential, little experience outside of Hanks.
And, at WR, experience isn't as valuable as it is at many other positions. I think we'll be fine at WR, even if not as strong as we were in 2010.

*add Maze for now...

I agree, I think we are flush with young talent at WR; I am more concerned with who will be throwing the ball to our inexperienced, but very talented group, of young pass catchers. The OB is who will make them shine, or not.

I was hoping for the same thing.
