Game Thread: Alabama vs. API ESPN Fullcourt

Yeah that guy on tv is your typical boog fan right here..no question about it.

Yeah he was a trip, i told my wife i was surprised he wasn't T'd up, and at the very least removed from the arena. It shows their lack of class.
Just like the past two years, when we won the iron bowl , I hadn't said 1 word derogative towards a barner, even after ending their 6 year run 36-0.
Well after this years IB game i go to get gas, at a local station(5 minutes after the game literally), and while pumping gas this 20 year old barn gimper/ stranger comes around the pump screaming whats UP bama Boy whats Up bama Boy, laughing and pointing... I just responded you don't know me son, best run along now...

My mom works in a grocery store and the day of the game boast roll tide , and good luck to a fellow elderly lady/co worker/barner, she responds 'roll over and die".
I could go on and on, but i wont i'm sure we all have our examples, BUT My point here is AUBURN TRULY DEFINES the word classless.

Way to hang tough team, I'm really liking this coach anthony grant, given time he could put us back on the map, sooner rather than later...

I watched the game on CSS, but it sounds like the ESPN3 and Full Court viewers also had to listen to the heckling from the boog. I started noticing it with about six or seven minutes left in the game and it was non-stop for the remainder of the game. I kept thinking the guy would have to come up for air, but he never did. I don't know how much of it was picked up by the other broadcasts, but it was terrible on CSS and it wasn't just directed at Green. There was a lot of yelling directed at CAG and Steele as well.

Great road win although ugly. Keep in mind that we have played 3 of our first 5 conference games on the road and all 3 were against Western Div opponents. We did look tired during the game but that might be attributed to the last 3 games that were physical and hard fought. But we have to come up with a 4th guy from the bench that can get close to 10 minutes a game or the back half of the conference schedule could get dicey.
I was a little worried that we did not play as good of interior defense as we have been playing. Fouls played a part but I did not think that we would have as much trouble inside as we did on defense. We shot free throws pretty well considering that a 55% FT shooter kept finding himself on the line in the second half. Hines has got to get credit for playing so well today. Not sure, but it seemed like Mitchell did not see the floor in the last 6 minutes or so of the game. Am I wrong? And, CAG getting T'd up might have been some frustration coming out from some of the officiating he has been seeing. I know I have said that what you get from officials is what you get, but sometimes you have to calculate your explosions to get attention and a point across and hope they see it your way. But I thought that T had been building up for awhile. More to point out but I will enjoy this tonight and critique at a later date.

I thought he timed it well. I was waiting for it...

Good timing...Bama will get more respect on the road from officials because of it. We got the typical home cooking calls in Arkansas, but as the team shows they're contenders, the calls will get more level if CAG demands respect.

definately not the prettiest win ever.
Pretty is irrelevant on the road in the SEC. A win's a win. Be happy. Roll Tide!:BigA:

As far as the heckling goes, that is par for the course on the road is whatever sport you play. I didn't hear the heckler cursing or using offensive language, but I may have missed it. When I was an immature student at UA, I was close to the court during games and definitely heckled refs and opposing players most of the game.

So 2 wrongs= a right? Was you on live TV , (on 3 networks )heckling, for 10 minutes, throwing derogatory remarks towards coaches, and players alike?
If you were, you would deserve to be ejected as well. I heard a bunch of offensive language,it was not cursing but offensive non the less. I really would not of cared that much, but 10 minutes, on national TV?? If that was an alabama fan, at their place He would of been tossed out instantly. Deservedly so I might add...

Anyway on a brighter note Anthony Grant is going to do special things at the helm,,,ROLL TIDE:BigA:

The heckling was annoying but it was only so bad because CSS mic placement was horrible. I didnt hear anything derogatory and I watched the whole time. Pretty much the extent of it was telling Jamychal that he had to dribble after he got called for a walk and telling Chris Hines he couldn't shoot. If that offended you I would suggest you not go to any high school or college basketball game where the student section is going to show up.

The important thing to take from this game is that it was the perfect chance for us to have a let down (and I feel we kind of did), but we were able to do just enough to pull out the win. It is tough for any team playing anywhere on the road after having a two game stretch like we had heading into the game with the Barn. The Arky loss was a tough one and I kind of thought it may would carry over to the UK game, but we showed up and played the best we have looked all year (for about a 15-20 minute period). After UK pulling to within one and us holding on for a very emotional physical win it takes a lot out of a team.

Congrats to the good guys. Winning on the road in the SEC is going to be key in getting a ticket to the big dance.

True, but Abarn's rpi is in the 300's and M$U's is around 188. Bama's is around 150. We are going to have to win the SEC East away games, but I think we will have to win the SEC tourney to get in.

A win is a win, nice to see us spoil that Barn's celebration. 4-1 in the SEC is a lot better that I had anticipated earlier in the month.

I think we should just be happy that the program seems to be heading in a positive direction. I think it evident that we have improved in many areas, especially on the defensive side of the ball, breaking the "Press" consistently, as well as recruiting. Of course winning is always great, but the improvement is so much more evident this year.

The hey jamychael that orange things called a bball "duh huh", and" Anthony teach dem boys 2 dribble", and " we don't understand the retard refs calls either" remarks was offensive to me anyway, and regardless of where it goes on at IT ISN"T NEEDED, or called for you can make excuses all day for the trash, but that's exactly what he is classless trash. It's not Css place to move their mic around obnoxious fans, its the refs place to "eject" them accordingly. I do attend local BB and FB games, and have seen countless parents tossed out for far less that what this tool did.. No need to get into a PXXXING contest, but no need to make excuses for this behavior neither.
My point is, barner trash and should have been ejected...Let's see this kid try that at Coleman.....:BigA:

P.s I agree with your game assessment, except for the (let down} remark...

As far as the heckling, I did not notice on the audio until we started to pull away in the last 3 minutes of the game. That is when that arena started to empty and you could hear a pin drop (or a jerk heckler trying to be funny!:D) I am not sure at that point that if CSS (ESPN Regional) had put the mic in Lake Martin, you might have still heard the guy. I noticed, at one point, I could even hear each coach talking right at the end of the game.

I agree completely. Sure, I would love to make the big dance this year, but I am really happy just to see us competing hard on defense and getting some road wins. The SEC is very down, but I would still love to see us win the West and compete for the SEC tourney title even if we failed to get into the dance. That would definitley be improvement from the past several years, which would make me happy, not satisfied, but happy.

if those are the worst things you heard yesterday, then that's pretty mild compared to a lot of stuff i've heard in our student section the last 4-5 years. i remember just a few years ago, our entire student section was making fun of the auburn player that had 6 fingers.

One last note about this game. I heard this morning that there were some 80,000 people in Auburn this past weekend. Man, that is alot of people to come watch Alabama play basketball. ;)

No doubt and I agree with everything in your post. I'm proud of the job CAG is doing. We could see marked improvement last year on the defensive side from the previous regime and we've seen marked improvement from the Paradise Jam to the present. The context of my reply to Brett was whether we'll make the NCAA this year. Even with wins at Vanderbilt and at Florida, it looks like our rpi rating won't get out of the 100s. But, winning the west, a good showing in the SEC tourney and making the NIT would be a very positive step in the right direction.
