Re: Cyrus, St Nick Fairly, Coach McGregor, and Brian Overstreet

The coach told reporters Tuesday he felt Cyrus would go to AU without even talking to Cyrus much on Tuesday. He now keeps saying how Cyrus needs to talk to AU and such. Just sounds odd to me.

I know. He's the one setting up conference calls and such. Surely his dad is aware of this. I don't know his dad's relationship with the coach, but his dad probably should kindly tell the coach to move along now. He's done more than enough on behalf of auburn. Right now Cyrus owes nothing to Auburn. He's been in contact and kept them in the loop. The auburn show just needs to pull out for a while. Why Cyrus doesn't see past this I dont' know.

Re: Don't feed the troll!!!

From that article:
His father has reportedly said that Iowa was still being considered, but Kouandjio nixed that idea Thursday afternoon.
"I went down there and I love the football team and the coaches and everything," he said. "But the lifestyle down there, I don't think its for me. I don't think I'd be able to thrive those three years. I don't think so."
That sentence makes it perfectly clear why Cyrus initially chose the barn. He plans on playing 3 years and heading to the NFL and he might not be able to do that at Alabama.

Correct - that and he wants to major in architecture, so the barn wizzed him all around hyping their architecture program. Fine, but dude needs to just listen to his mom, dad, and big bro who are all telling him to come to Bama!

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Here it is and it doesn't sound good to me. Cyrus needs to go home and get with his family. It's one thing if they guide and steer him. It's quite another if his coach does. Now it appears Cyrus hasn't even talked to Alabama coaches. Wonder why Saban's name is nowhere to be found in all these reports?

I believe TideenGA and I have discussed before that Tony Paige(Bus Cook's partner) is from DeMatha as well. This is all starting to give the phrase "it's a small world" all new meaning. Sorry TideenGA if that wasn't you.

Re: Cyrus, St Nick Fairly, Coach McGregor, and Brian Overstreet

Auburn is really great with behind-the-scenes dealings with people.

Seriously though, if this is true, the Auburn staff is no better than a bunch of pimps. Trading this for that, bartering with young people's futures...Cyrus' coach is really putting a lot of pressure on him right now to go to AU, that much is clear. Just goes to show you Auburn and Cyrus' coach don't care at all for Cyrus as a person. Auburn wants the competitive advantage and his coach is doing a favor for a friend, who knows he could be getting paid too. All I can say is I feel really sorry for Cyrus as a person. Imagine having your parents, your brother, an overzealous head coach, an Auburn's wacky coaching staff all speaking in your ear at the same time, and then trying to make decision. I feel we may lose this battle simply because Saban isn't willing to stoop that low...I'm growing tired of losing battles to Auburn because we're not willing to stoop as low as they are. But whatever happens I hope Cyrus gets out of this okay and doesn't regret his decision because of a bunch of selfish men took advantage of his naivety.

We are going to lose this kid, I am 90% confident he is gone from the way his coach is talking. Congrats Auburn, go around the parents and deal with his coach - "Auburn asked me to set up the conference call" (paraphrase from McGregor)

I don't know how an Aubie can be hawt. :D
Not following, Belle. So he has a football camp?

The guy has been at the same school for 28 years and produces a ton of Division I talent. It's glib to say he's on the take. But we're basing that on what: that he hasn't agreed to drive Cyrus to Tuscaloosa?

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I'm not accusing Cyrus of any kind of under the table stuff. I just think it's interesting that his coach seems to be so aggressive about getting him to go to AU. Right now it seems like the family is Bama and the Coach is Auburn. I think we can all figure out why his parents would want him to choose one school over the other. I just wonder what his coach stands to gain.
